It's squeezing yet more money out of fans who now, instead of being able to base themselves in one country, are going to be travelling around like cattle.

I'm sure they'll dress it up as "bringing football to more people" but is that **** the reason - this makes them more money because there's either been or is going to be a huge dick-waving contest to see who'll be chosen.

It will also allow people couldn't otherwise go to see matches.

I doubt UEFA will be running transport that'd make money. I doubt it'd be more expensive in general than other finals.

It will bring trade to more cities and result in games being played in cities which otherwise may never get to see a European championship.

It depends on which cities they choose. I'd imagine that each country will end up picking its capital, and "home" national stadium. Can you see the FA picking anywhere other than Wembley for England games?

Of course not. The FA have a massive mortgage to pay on Wembley.

I guess it's a way of sharing the wealth in that sense too.

I have nothing against this idea anyway. And I'm sure the various venue cities will be quite pleased to have a somewhat diluted contingent of England fans descending on them.

Although thinking about it Stu, the amount of travel England fans would have been "forced" to make in Poland / Ukraine was more than going to a bunch of games in Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Berlin, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Dublin and the like.
            Oh I don't know.

And if someone accused you of murder without a shred of evidence that's ok?

There are bigger problems around dealing with violence against women than protecting the identities of men who are charged (not accused, there's a difference) with rape.

And the implication that there are all these false accusations of rape is without foundation.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

red_g recently mentioned Billy McKay - freebie from Northampton Town who is the top scorer in the SPL.

At the weekend he failed to score from here:

Here's the **** up. Why on earth didn't he tap it in?!

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You disagreed about rape allegations, not being charged with rape (there is a difference )

Any woman can destroy a man's name by an accusation even though later it is proved baseless the **** will stick. Once he is charged it is a different matter.

Erm... kindly point out the part where I said that?

And, for the record, I don't think people's identities should be disclosed until people are formally charged and sentenced with ANY serious crimes like that for the exact same reasons.

                      Nail. On. The. Head.

All it takes is a drunken mistake and a rape complaint and someone's reputation and entire life are in complete tatters. It's the accusation that never goes away - you are ALWAYS tarnished with having been accused of that.

Everton about to sign Leroy Fer for 10m Euros apparently.

                              He's not the brightest:

Dutch star in a trot of bother after splashing out £22k on pet horse to impress girlfriend (who lives in a flat)

A player at Steve McClaren's FC Twente was left red-faced after buying his girlfriend a pet horse – only to find out she can't keep it as she lives in a block of flats.
Holland midfielder Leroy Fer, who has caught the eye of Liverpool, Newcastle and Everton, made the extravagant purchase at an auction of former race horses.

The 22-year-old visited the auction with his girlfriend and and splashed out £22,000 on a stallion called Django.
But his noble gesture fell flat when his other half pointed out that she lives in a block of flats and has no way of accommodating or looking after poor Django, reports Metro.
With no suitable stable space available in the area, Fer has been forced to quickly offload the horse, and become a laughing stock among his team-mates.
Maybe next time, Fer should consider a cat or dog instead.
