i'd quite like stoke to win - i lived there for three years at uni so got a bit of a soft spot for them

though at the time i never for one second imagined stoke would be going for the fa cup, top 10 finish in the prem and europe

FA Cup final day whether people think it's not what it used to be or whatever, should be about the supporters of the two teams involved getting all the glory for one day.
That's not going to happen when there's a load of Premier League games on the same day.
Why not have the league games all on the Sunday? (At least if they're going to have league games the same weekend as the final)

The best thing about Stoke is the A50
              We come not to play.

Final insult... Part II! NEXT season's FA Cup showpiece at Wembley will be tarnished, too

The shambles of the FA Cup final taking place on the same day as four Barclays Premier League matches - which has caused such outrage throughout the game - is to be repeated next year.

The FA, whose flagship event will be marginalised by Manchester United's likely clinching of a 19th championship at Blackburn as the teams warm up at Wembley, are already resigned to a similar scenario in 2012.

UEFA's demand for a clear fortnight before the Champions League final at Wembley caused this year's farcical clash of fixtures.

Final Insult (Part I): United could win the league minutes before FA Cup final

Head to head: Man City's Roberto Mancini and Stoke's Tony Pulis square up

Next season the mandatory four-week gap in advance of UEFA's European Championship will mean another shared programme of games on the FA Cup final weekend.

And FA chairman David Bernstein said it was possible Premier League fixtures would infiltrate the Cup final Saturday despite the considerable anger - highlighted by Sportsmail this week - that has caused numerous complaints from FA Cup legends, leading managers and fans.

Bernstein said: 'We want to get the FA Cup final back to the stand-alone match on the final day of the season, but unfortunately not next year.

Clashes: The 2012 final at Wembley faces the same issues at this year's showpiece

'We know we will have an issue next season because of the fixture congestion caused by the gap needed before the Euro finals. And it's a possibility there will be Premier League games on Cup final day again.

'It's not the FA's call as to the Premier League's contractual relationship with their TV rights holders. We understand their situation.'

This year, the Wembley showpiece, rather than having the attention of the sporting world to itself as long tradition demands, will instead have the competing TV attraction of Manchester United probably winning the one point they need to clinch the Premier League title.

Overshadowed: TV coverage of the Premier League and now Euro 2012 is encroaching on the FA Cup final

Sky Sports coverage of United's likely championship celebrations is not due to finish until 3.15pm - 15 minutes into the Manchester City v Stoke City FA Cup final.

And Sky haven't ruled out extending their broadcast even further into FA Cup final territory if events at Ewood Park were to justify it.

Bernstein, who will be hosting David Cameron at Wembley, added: 'The final will be a great occasion with the Prime Minister here.'

More tradition will disappear next season as well when the final will switch from its previously sacrosanct 3pm kick-off to 5.15pm to suit the TV rights holders.

                      5:15pm next year

People were mentioning in other threads about the possibility of CL place going to the FA Cup winners to show the value of the competition, well this IMO looks like the FA are the ones devaluing the FA Cup rather than clubs playing weakened teams
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The Premier League should just add an extra mid week fixture during the European football break, that way the FA cup final weekend is kept free/the season finishes earlier as FIFA want.

Tell FIFA to cancel one of their pointless international friendly weekends
