    General Transfer Speculation

As silly season is starting and this promises to be the silliest of silly seasons i thought i'd start a thread to keep all random transfer gossip in for other clubs

i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I'll start with Man City - who probably could warrant their own thread

i'm really not that concerned about what city do - yes they are going to go and spend silly ****ing money - but they can't sign every single top player and you can only pick 11 to play.

So far i have seen them linked with....

Kaka (just to piss chelsea off)
Rodwell (just to piss mancs off)
Cesc Fabregas (to piss off Arsenal and because Barca want him)
Xavi ( because obv if fabregas goes barca Xavi will move on )
Ibrahamovic (which seems to be 'their own' target)

****ing laughable - it's clear case of....what...United are interested in so and so.....ok he must be good then if united want in, throw in a £30m bid and see what happens

Spurs and city have the same scouting policy. Look who the other big clubs want and try and outbid them. Obviously this is more successful for the richer city, but it's still no way to conduct a transfer policy. The requirements for a player should be very detailed and specific and completely depend on tactics and the precise roll they will play, along with an assessment of the skills of the players already in the squad. A world class player is probably more likey to fill any kind of gap, but it's still a risk.

that's why i'm not too concerned about city - yes they will sing some good players and spend ridiculous money - but they aren't exactly going out there and thinking about what they need and why they are buying them

and more importantly, what it does to the current squad and players - now city obv don't care....in their eyes the £30m ballotelli £30m Dzeko, £20m Adebayor etc aren't working...so we'll just go and spend £40m on Zlatan

or...who gives a **** about young james milner and gareth barry working their socks off and playing well....we are still going to spend £50m on Sneijder

it disrupts the team, upsets the balance

        it's ridiculous

Sunderland want Miroslav Klose, joint leading goalscorer in all World Cup finals, if you don't count that one Ronaldo didn't score against Costa Rica in 2002, which we're not going to, on account of him not scoring it. He's available on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.

Manchester United, who don't have any money, will spend £14m on Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

Schalke will replace Bayern Munich-bound Manuel Neuer with Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg. Manchester United will have to make do with David de Gea of Atlético Madrid, whose agent is Jorge Mendes. That one will happen.

Arsenal and Liverpool both want Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. Liverpool are also after young Internazionale midfielder Philippe Coutinho, who ripped Spurs to bits for 45 minutes earlier this season. "He is the future of Inter," said Rafael Benítez, who wasn't.

Arsenal are off-loading Nicklas Bendtner and Bacary Sagna to Bayern Munich. They'll meanwhile make a double raid on the French league for Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro and midfielder Morgan Amalfitano. Because these raids on the French league have been going so well for them recently.

Hamburg hitman Ruud van Nistelrooy wants to come back to England, and has accordingly issued a come-and-rescue-me-from-this-hell plea. Only Blackburn and Spurs are showing an interest, which proves to Ruud, and indeed all of us, that we're not getting our youth back any time soon.

Emmanuel Adebayor is up for moving to Tottenham! O ho! O ho!

Roberto Di Matteo is to take over at newly relegated Sheffield United, where he hopes to build the team into an attractive passing outfit, then let Roy Hodgson come in and take all the credit.

A stroke of luck for Chelsea, who may yet dodge a bullet in their attempt to sign spent Brazil midfielder Kaká: both Manchester City and Milan are interested in the knackered old goat.

And finally, the moment the entire week has been building up to: newly promoted Norwich City want Bolton midfielder Tamir Cohen. Denouements R Us.

The times they are a changin'.

His preferred option is Arsenal but they have other priorities ie Benzema. He is pretty much high on Comolli's list though.

Manchester City have beaten Barcelona to sign Celta Vigo whizkid Denis Suarez.

Celta Vigo's chairman Carlos Mourino confirmed that the Spanish Under 17 midfielder will join City for an initial fee of £850,000, which could rise to £2.75m depending on appearances and performance-related clauses in the deal.

City are also showing an interest in Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda, 24, currently playing for CSKA Moscow and his compatriot, Leicester City's 29-year-old utility player Yuke Abe.

Christ knows what they've had to offer to persuade him to join them instead of Barca.

                              The kid's probably now on £120k p/w
