Atletico wait on United call
Goalkeeper closing in on summer move to Premier League champions
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says he is waiting to be informed of Manchester United's likely signing of goalkeeper David De Gea.
Speaking after Gary Neville's testimonial against Juventus on Tuesday night, Sir Alex Ferguson told Sky Sports News that United are closing on a deal for De Gea.
The young Spaniard has been identified by Ferguson as the long-term replacement for Edwin van der Sar, who is retiring at the end of the season.
"We've been working on it for quite a while. We identified him quite a while back as one we should go for," Ferguson told Sky Sports News.
"He's a young goalkeeper, very quick, good composure, presence and an outstanding replacement for Van der Sar.
However, responding to the news United were closing in on De Gea, Cerezo told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser: "We don't know anything.
"Officially neither Manchester (United) or the player at this moment have informed us of anything.
"He knows very well that he can negotiate (with other clubs) but always that they have to pay his buy-out clause."
Atletico, who finished this season in seventh spot in the Primera Division, had been keen to tie De Gea down to a new contract with his current one running until 2013.
Recently, Madrid-born De Gea, whose contract buy-out clause is reportedly in the region of 25 millions euros (£22million), said he would make a decision about his future by the end of June.

I have no idea what this means, but I am watching NY Red Bull tonight and Fabregas and Van Persie are at the match together here in NYC. Spain is playing a friendly against the USA in Boston next week, which explains Fabregas, but interesting that Van Persie is here with him hanging out. Both here to watch Theirry Henry (who has scored already*) I assume, but still, hope for Arsenal with Fab?**
*2-2 at the half against Colorado, as I know you are dying to know...

Good man Harry.
It's incredible the number of people who think he's wonderful.
Saw some journo but him in his team of the year the other day.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
