Also he is showing further contempt for the FA and the rules by refusing to co-operate, this should also be taken into account. If he only gets a warning this time the FA are taking the piss.
    Yup.

He's been warned time and time again. He's picked up touchline bans and he's been fined. Yet he constantly goes on - a complete rule to himself. Start docking United points ffs, it's the only way he'll ever learn.

Thing is though, there are plenty of examples of managers talking about refs before the match, where the FA haven't charged them.

To be fair, it's far from his worst 'crime' and refusing to enter a plea is neither here nor there. It realy would be a bad day for football if they punished the man rather than the crime.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

They need to warn Ferguson and write to all managers reminding them to follow the rule too.

And then they should shoot Ferguson alongside Howard Webb.
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

FA regulatory commission warns Sir Alex Ferguson as to his future conduct in relation to comments about ref Howard Webb

I'm sure that will have the desired effect.

The desired effect is to be seen doing something whilst actually doing **** all.

Maybe we should lobby to rename the football association "Sweet FA"

Any chance whatsoever of them being docked points thus giving the title to Chelsea?

Imagine the look on the faces of all those scummy glory supporters. One can dream...

I would guess at absolutely **** all chance of that happening Charles, as nice as that thought is.

Come on, it's a first step, a warning shot.

I'd like to see Ferguson shot every day but as pointed out lots of managers have made similar comments in the past. Maybe the FA should have taken a tougher line before but it's surely better they start now than continue to let things slide. And in that circumstance natural justice says they can't suddenly pick on one incident from one manager, no matter how loathsome, and execute him.

I think they've actually done the right thing - picked on the most high profile individual and fired a shot across the bows so all will be aware that similar transgressions n future might be punished.

Of course it's entirely possible they'll quietly drop the whole initiative in future, as they usually do, but let's hope they stick to their guns for once.

Actually I was thinking Ashley Cole might be given the job.

I'm going against the grain here, but this particular charge is a joke.

Huh? But he's just been banned, how is this a first step? He's had numerous suspended bans, fines, and now he's been receiving actual bans (albeit completely pointless ones). Now they've reverted back to slapping his wrist and calling him a naughty boy. How utterly pointless.
