Because it's local neighbours obviously, there's obvious appetite for the game but way your saying makes zero sense.

When you think of who wil compete(rival) with LFC for honours, Everton do not come into the equation ever, that is a fact. In todays game i would consider our rivals to be Mancs,Chelsea,City,Arsenal & possibly Spurs.

I'm not nitpicking at all. You obviously see rivalry as meaning something different from me (and, from my experience, most Liverpool fans i talk to at games).

The notion of calling Chelsea, City, Spur and Arsenal 'rivals' of ours, comes across to me at least, as pure Sky-gen stuff. By that description, a club's rivals can change every season, which makes no sense because real rivalry spans across time, and doesnt just exist while a certain opponent happens to be competitive. By your description, Man Utd's rivals in 1992-1993 were Norwich. What you're describing is what i'd call competitors, not rivals.

And stop calling it 'nitpicking' when someone disagrees, it's not that at all.

Atletico need the money badly. They are in a very bad financial situation. That is probably why they sell him to them.

The President can say bye bye to his job but sometimes you must do something like this to save the club. They need as much money as they can get.

Selling Kun to Real is totally unacceptable. Kun will be hated by the Atletico fans and so will the Atletico President.

This only shows how bad the situation is at Atletico.

true enough but i'm sure Aguero, much many other players thjust my opinion.at have made shock moves to 'rivals' or 'competitors' will get over it pretty quickly.

There is no loyalty in the modern game, nothing surprises me anymore but the south american seem particularly mercenary. Maybe i'm being unfair but just my opinion.

Local rivals they are. Not competitive rivals.

We're bigger rivals with Chelsea than we are with Everton as we're in competition with Chelsea(well most years) more than the bitters.

We have a good laugh at Everton all year apart from when it comes to playing em. Don't take them seriously at all, as we do Chelsea.

Same with us and Everton. OK I don't live in Liverpool nor am I from there but I've spent enough time there and it's exactly the same as in Manchester. Naturally non-Liverpudlian Reds don't feel the rivalry as keenly. The rivalry is intense and often poisonous. To claim otherwise is demented and incorrect.

As discussed previously 'historically' they are our rivals. In the modern game, they are not rivals. I am more concerned with the likes of United/Chelsea/Arsenal/City/Spurs than Everton, even though the Everton game means alot to Liverpool football club.

We are talking about the most controversial transfer ever in their history. You simply don't sell a player to Real, you simply don't. Selling the hero and best player to them is totally unacceptable.

The fans will demand that every board member resigns straight away. We are talking about fans that would boycott games and so on.

All hell will break lose if the transfer happen.

very true, best mate is a massive Manc fan (he's a bit simple) always the 2 fixtures he looks for 1st and always has done is us and City - I always look for Everton and the Mancs - I want us to beat those 2 sides over everyone else every season - why because I see them as our main rivals and vice-verca.

I can see where DP is coming from though, some footballers won't look at it in the same light as fans do - most will but some will look at the table and only care about who's above them.

You've just nailed it yourself without realising - the everton game means a ****load, despite them not being in direct competition with us, because of the RIVALRY.

Yeah but DP is talking from his own point of view, rather than that of players - and he doesnt consider Everton as big rivals of ours. Which is a bit like saying Liverpool fans dont really mind Gary Neville

It's for the very same reason why Everton wont sell Baines to us - Rudo himself has admitted that they never would - so obviously he must realise the strength of the rivalry - yet he's trying to dismiss it on this thread
