Remember what he said back in January that it will be his decision when he leaves Atletico. Sounds like he knew that the club had promised him a move when the agreed price was offered by a club.

Forlan is allegedly another player they promised a move at a fixed price. Maybe a broken promise is behind his piss poor form last season. He simply showed that he had enough and want out.
