I have no Idea the profit made o the kits but lets say its £20 they would have to sell twice as many shirts as they do all season with Torres name on to recoup the 15million difference in transfer profits.

I think the people who write these sorts of adverts are more interested in hyperbole than looking at realities.
Real earned something like £300m on Beckham. You can earn big money if you know how to do it and have the tools to do it.

Say we sell 1m shirts. It makes no difference to us if one player's name is on the back of 900k of those, or there's 5 players each with 200k.

Now I have massive doubts that the signing of any one player would sell all that many extra shirts. Its not like hundreds of thousands of people would wake up the day after we hypothetically signed Aguero and decide to buy a new lfc shirt rather than the ManU one they bought last year. Real may have sold 1.2m Ronaldo shirts in Madrid, but how many more did they sell than a few years before with Raul on the back?
It isn't only about shirts. If you are winning things like the CL and the PL then you also get much better sponsorship deals etc.

If we are winning things then we would get better paid for example when we sell our naming rights for the new stadium if we build one. Well known players means better sponsorship deals and that will be key when it comes down to the new financial fair play rules.

Stop changing the subject Arn. This thread is clearly about shirt sales.
        Oh I don't know.

Well that's sort of true, I don't think anyone's going to argue with the equation that signing potentially world class players = better chance of winning stuffs = more money.

However, as Madrid proved when they signed Alonso, Kaka, Ronaldo etc all at once, and Man City are more generally the living embodiment of, signing the "biggest" players is no guarantee of success on the pitch. No matter who they are.

From a purely sporting perspective, are we even interested in Aguero? We should be but I am not sure we are or ever were.

If the price is £40m+, I doubt it.

We are not buying Aguero and anyone who thinks we are is mental.

The king has already spoken to confirm further incomings depend on outgoings first so its pretty obvious to me we haven't got 45 million to spunk on Aguero right now

And I think the chances of getting £45m from selling Cole, Poulsen, Degen, El Zhar and Jovanovic are non-existant.

In fact if we were to sell both Meireles and Aquilani and all that lot we still wouldn't even get close.

Not all fans are internet freaks like the rest of us and to put it in to context, nobody I know has ever heard of EST, YNWA, RAWK etc. Just because the internet kids are wanking to a frenzy over Aguero, it doesn't carry that all Liverpool fans feel the same.

That said, I'd wager my left scrotum that Luis Suarez's name will adorn more new shirts than any other player. If Aguero did happen to sign, Suarez would still out sell his shirts by at least 3:1

Didn't the promoter Barry Hearn once buy Leyton Orient? Surely he could've signed Beckham, what with his amazing marketing skills....
