So what if the difference between Carroll and Suarez is something like £30m over five years.

Carroll will probably never be worth £35m but Aguero will easily be worth £40m in five years time IMO.

Aguero will make it easier for City to sign the top class players. They will earn a lot of cash off the pitch thanks to Aguero.

Aguero is easily worth £30m more over five years than Carroll if you look at the whole picture on and off the pitch.

He earned £260k a week at Atletico so he isn't getting more than that now. If you count in the difference in taxes then he will earn less than he did at Atletico. So money isn't the main motive to the move.

I *think* Aguero was on £120k a week at Athletico, he will he on a substantially high amount at Citeh - money is definitely a factor. It might not be the primary one, but it could well be a bearing - especially if they've negotiated £150k *after* tax.

As for the arguments of his commercial value, I don't see it. I have a feeling we were priced out of making a move for him due to his wage demands and his need of Champions League football.
