    Newcastle United in Turmoil

Granted, the title is hardly ground breaking news and no one will in particular be shocked to hear this.

    1. Joey Barton wants out. He will never play for Newcastle ever again. He is prepared to sit on his contract just to piss Mike Ashley of if he has too. He can not stand Ashley.

    2. Kevin Nolan wants out and will not sign a new contract.

    3. Jose Enrique wants out.

    4. Fabricio Collocini wants out. Apparently his departure is imminent, as early as this week possibly.

    --------

I didn't go into enough detailas I'm no Newcastle fan so don't care, but brief details are it all started when Andy Carroll was sold and since then the players have questioned the clubs ambition and they've not been given the answers they wanted to hear.
    Forwards.......

They are paying for Freddy Shepherd's extravagance in the late 90's and early 2000. Mike Ashley has stated on numerous occasions that the finances were in far worse shape than what he expected from due diligence. This was one hurried purchase.

Now he is viewing NUFC as a business and trying to balance the books by reducing expenditure by controlling wages and smart player purchases and selling. In this time period, I don't think he minds if they yo-yo between the championship and the premier league. They appear to have established a decent scouting network in the lower levels of the French league. Tiote and Ben Arfa are very astute purchases for their level. They are also strongly linked to Johan Cabaye at Lille, Cheikh M’Bengue Of Tolouse, Mehdi Abeid of Lens - all of whom have the potential to be decent premier league players from what I have read about them. I think in the long term NUFC will be more stable as long as they dont go below the championship.

With the current level of debts, they are unattractive to investors. Ashley has openly said that he wants to sell. Once the books are balanced, NUFC will have the means to generate enough revenue to compete in the top half of the PL. Even though it is funny to laugh at them, I wish they get their act together.

They are entertaining both on and off the pitch and have been relatively kind to us in terms of results when we play against them. I would rather have them in the premier league than some of the other clubs. They at least have the balls and the ego ( often misguided) to attack and score goals against Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Man United and do not prostrate before the greatness of Ferguson, Wenger, and 'Arry.

      Very good post.

They apparently signed Cabaye from Lille yesterday for only €5m.

didn't joey barton just say to everyone that he wanted to stay, and no contract had been offered a day or two ago? sounded to me like he wanted to sign.

Appears to be a very good signing for the price mentioned.

I think the reason they have not offered Barton a new contract is the capture of Cabaye. Of course it can backfire if Cabaye does not settle in the PL.

I think you were right, Dannyman

I may have to withdraw everything positive I said about NUFC
