Arsenal and Holland star Robin van Persie has launched an extraordinary tirade against the Spanish national team and Premier League rivals Chelsea, accusing them of "bitching" about referees.
The forward was similarly scathing of Barcelona following his club's controversial Champions League last-16 defeat and has extended his ire to the reigning European and world champions.
"They [Spain players] always go up to referees in an attempt to get an opponent booked. They are trying to screw colleagues! That kind of behaviour really annoys me," Van Persie was quoted as saying by Sport 1.
"People who are watching the game on television and fans really do not want to see these kind of things. If you want to witness a lot of complaints, you should just go the bakery or something. There's always people nagging there as well."
Not content with sniping at the Spaniards, Van Persie changed his target to rivals closer to home, and suggested Chelsea should quit moaning about officials.
"Chelsea players are always bitching against the referees. I really cannot understand that. Just shut the f*** up and focus on playing football," he said.
It is not the first time that the striker has hit out while on international duty. In March, the Dutchman bemoaned Barcelona after he was sent off in the defeat at Camp Nou.
"The Barcelona players tend to nag about everything that happens on the pitch," he said at the time. "I was a bit disappointed with that. It’s something that the Chelsea players do in England.
"Barcelona are still a fantastic team, but they should really stop nagging and complaining that much. That’s becoming extremely annoying on the pitch."
He also mocked Chelsea and Manchester City for splashing the cash and claiming that Arsenal would not have a say in the title race.
He was also quoted by The Guardian in March as saying: "A club like Manchester City change their philosophy every year and Chelsea spent about €80 million [£70m] this season ... two clubs who had a big mouth before the season, thinking that Arsenal wouldn't play a role in the title race but we are still ahead of them. And just by playing our own game, through our own philosophy."
