****, forgot about Zidane I stand by the rest.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Doesn't mean he'd get in the side. I spoke to people who genuinely thought he would and when pressed on who he'd replace in the current Barca side most said Iniesta

Scholes over Iniesta! No chance - great player in his day undoubtably but even in his pomp I think you'd have to change the Barca style to fit him in which in itself would be madness!

I agree a lot of the praise Scholes has had recently has been well over the top.

So has some of the criticism though. There was no way he was embarrassingly one-footed, for instance, he scored plenty of goals with his left.

Said it earlier, but its years and years since his peak, maybe even as long as 10 years. He's been **** for a long time and has purely traded on the young Paul Scholes reputation and memory.

Gerrard had a lot more to his game than Scholes, who was no doubt a very, very able player, but isn't near Giggs even.

And Rowan, I'm in training for the inter departmental tournament in work so I can wreak some physicality on one fella in our operations department.

I'm out for a few weeks after getting snapped by some total dick a few days ago. He went straight through me, studs up and knee high. When I get back I'll be dishing out some retribution in a fair (yet industrial) manner.

I had to do a bit enforcement on Monday too, Dan. Some cheeky ******* was absolutely taking the piss. He was a class player but he was blocking off all the time, he kept smashing me with his elbow when we were chasing the same ball, must have stood on my foot about 300 times! Shoulder charging!!!! He had to be stopped and I knew just the man to do it

How's the training going? Been on the kick bags?

I can't help feeling it is all very petty. Scholes and Giggs won more than any of the other legends and both were instrumental in United run of success under Fergusson. Until the last two seasons they have undoubtedly been in the top few players in the country and deserve to been seen as such.

While I can see why people feel the praise goes overboard I think it's a natural extension of the way football is reported. In context of that I think it is comparatively well deserved.

The article seems tediously reactionary. All the hype surrounding the game in general is over blown, why pick this out especially. The lie to the whole thing is given by the arbitrary list given at the end.

Just watch the united fans now pick this one article out of a million others sucking up to Scholes and then say that the media has it in for them.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Was this on the eve of the CL final? aside from it being a very bizarre question to ask anyone, you could argue that he was playing mind games or even just being sarcastic? Or maybe he was just being kind as it was scholes's last ever game? Love 'em or hate 'em, Utd have had some top quality players in recent years but only a lunatic would genuinely pick Scholes as their best of recent years.

One of the scum players I would have taken in a heartbeat in the last 10 years. I hate the crap punditry about him but that's hardly surprising seeing as the vast majority of TV pundits are witless. I have no problem with the idea of him being nasty (aside from the usual over-rections I have watching the scum play) He's not a big guy and plays in CM - good for him if he puts the boot in from time to time and gets ****ers to think twice about going near him. Loads of his passing to create goals down through the years has been magic.
