It's a fantastic goal BUT the Roberto Carlos effor was a thousand times better. This effort is largely down to these ****e spongy new footballs - if you catch them right, you can make them swerve in 10 different ways and subsequently make yourself look like a cross between David Blaine and Roberto Carlos. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored numerous free kicks similar to this.

Surely then, 'catching them right' in itself is something of a skill? Otherwise everyone would be doing it
