Anyhoo, I think there is a thread on him already that has done this topic to death. I can't say I've come across the website mentioned in the initial post, but hopefully the bookies are as right as they were about Ribery.
    Not that I want him.

Three-quarters of the players we have signed since Kenny was last in charge have not 'LFC standard'.

I don't, but I've got mates from Huyton who do and believe me, you don't want to even go there mate. The thought of him putting on the shirt is nauseating. Like I said, people not players.

I understand what you're saying and I know he's had some bad history..
Him personally.. Forget about anything else by association..

I doubt we'll be signing him anyway based on our other midfield options..

BUT we need to put personal issues aside, in our challenge against the ****e down the road..

If a player is good enough, then we should sign him..

We'll have to agree to differ there. Standards of behaviour are more important than success IMO. I don't believe in winning at all costs and neither would your namesake. IMO, of course.

            Ok..

but Mr Gerrard isn't exactly the cleanest guy in the Prem..

No need for comparisons but he's had his fair share..

You might make an exception for an exceptional talent.

For Barton though? No chance. Would be devastated if we signed him.

I'm now wondering what he could possibly have done that is so bad? I think you should substantiate your statement now that you've made it. Anybody reading what you've just written will be making up stories in their heads.

But that's exactly what you're doing.

And Gerrard's 'misbehaviour' is worlds apart from the scumbag Barton's.

                      Not at all..

If Barton isn't welcome based on crimes commited, or association then why Gerrard?

                        wavydavy seems to think otherwise.

Because Barton has a record as long as your arm, while Gerrard doesnt.

And Barton's moments of madness are just that - sheer insanity. Putting a cigar out on a team mate's eye, for ****'s sake??

Gerrard punched a bloke in a bar, nothing to be proud of - but something that tonnes of people have done. I doubt many of us have put out a cigar on someone's eye.

And as Polo rightly said, you might be able to make an exception for certain, less serious crimes, when we're talking about EXCEPTIONAL talent. Barton certainly isnt that.

Barring a very rare mistake, Gerrard comes across as a decent fella, a family man and someone who knows right from wrong, and has respect for society and his fellow man.

Barton comes across as the complete opposite. If he'd had one, or even two major issues, you could put them down to being a rare incident or one-off. Barton has too many.

He will end up at west ham.

He's done some daft things I agree. I think he's unjustifiably vilified, maybe he deserves some re-evaluation? I think he's a much better player than he's given credit for. I would be very interested to hear the details behind Wavy Davy's assertion that Barton's done terrible things and we really don't want to go there.

worst thing about him is he has no regrets. if he seemed sorry at all i might feel differently.

                                might.
