He's a bit of a lunatic but I'd have him, he's worked hard on controlling his anger this season and doesn't get into as many arguments as he used to but you'd still worry that he'd flip and belt someone.

He's a decent player and has improved since taking on the captaincy for Newcastle. He's a decent crosser of the ball too. He's not fantastic but there's some steel there which is what we're lacking.

Would rather we looked elsewhere though obviously.

You did, my point was, 'cause for concern' is putting it mildly. And this isn't a one off incident either. Gerrards assault charge in which he was proven innocent even at worst is out of character. Sadly for Joey Barton, these events happen all to frequently and are very much in keeping with his character. Charges for which he served time. He has also previously stubbed a cigar out in a team mates eye.

A reformed character? Time will tell, but he can do his reforming at another club.

Plus, he's not all that good. Back to the Jermaine Pennant, Craig Bellamy type signings of 3 summers ago.

I didn't mean to put it mildly hence why i said he's a good player....BUT..his off the field behaviour was cause for concern...as for Gerrard punching the living day lights out of a DJ for not playing his song, well how he got away it i'll never know. It's there for everyone to see.
