Depends how much we are going to play him, how much we can get a replacement for and whether he is actually telling the truth about wanting to be hereOriginally posted by kris90210 View PostWe might as well keep him then right?
If it were me and all things being equal (including Allen coming in)
I'd pay him off and put the £4-5 million in wages you would save to good useBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I think hes lying but each to their own.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Just supposing his side of the story is 100% correct, if I went to a club that has pushed me out 2 seasons in a row after an injury nightmare then I'd be a pain in the arse if they wanted me to leave too.
Why the hell should he give up 4-5mill given the way we've treated him.
I also don't think it necessarily conflicts with lecters info. If i thought i wasnt accepted or treated fairly after a while in a new job then i'd be looking to move back to where i was successful previously.
given the state of the club in the last 2 years i wouldnt be surprised if he was spot on.
if he's on form and playing regularly, he definitely has the talent. time will tell if he proves to brendan mind you

My biggest worry also.Originally posted by kev776 View PostMy only worry about is that both Milan and Juve did not take him full time, the price of 6m euros is not high. There must be a chink in his armour to cause this.
I nearly spat my coffee out when i read what Aquailani had said, it just sounded so funny tbh, compared to what i think i know happened.
Yes he looked like he had talent, but his demeanor at the time he was'nt playing was'nt one of a player hungry to break into the team, or seemed that way to me, always seemed to be about going back to Italy.
But i'm happy to give the bloke a go, just hope and pray he stays fit, but as you say, my biggest worry is why no Italian clubs offered us a decent price for him, at a time when we would have dealt for a fee lower than his true value, you'd think anyway, i know we had some derisory offers, ok fair enough clubs trying to chance their arm, but why no realistic offers?
At least this is positive from him, good to hear him talking about playing and not moving.

Came from The People. Not published online yet, but The Mirror have based their report on it.
Liverpool have agreed to offload Italian flop Alberto Aquilani to Fiorentina for £7million, according to The People.
Kop boss Brendan Rodgers shipped out the midfielder to the Serie A side as he quickly looks to put his own stamp on the squad.
Aquilani has been a disaster for Liverpool since arriving for £20m from Roma in 2009. After struggling for fitness and form, he was loaned out to AC Milan last season.
The midfielder has played in a couple of pre-season games but did not figure in Rodgers’ plans for next season. Rodgers also wants to make way for a new midfield capture – and 28-year-old Aquilani’s £100k-a-week wages going off the payroll will help.
The new Anfield chief is keen to push on with a bid for Swansea’s Team GB midfielder Joe Allen but will not meet the Swans’ £15m valuation.
Rodgers hopes he can land Allen for around £9m and find a way round his ‘vow’ of not going back to the Welsh club for players. The Allen move will also be difficult as Swansea want a replacement teed up first.
Bolton’s Mark Davies is in their sights, despite him being labelled ‘not for sale’.

I couldn't get my head round the idea of cutting our losses, and even paying him to leave FFS.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIf he has been sold for £7m I'm glad Lec ain't in charge of transfers as he'd have let him go on a free as well as paying up half his wages
Even if this Fiorentina bid falls through, someone else is bound to want him on the cheap, rather than us paying to terminate his contract.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
