I'm not sure I think the U21s is really comparable to other managerial posts. I'd rather see a coaching reputation - perhaps someone like Glenn Roeder - even if the coach in question was not a natural manager. The U21s should be about development.

Not been impressed with the little I've seen of Pearce's tactics but someone clearly rates him.

I could understand that if England had a shortage of coaches to support the under 21s, but that's clearly not the case. Not sure why they need another one acting as manager.

Maybe Pearce really is being lined up as the next England manager

If that's the case more years of mediocrity await

You're missing the point here, red g. If players are to make the transition from the U21s to the senior team then it helps if they're already used to a tactically inept manager who commands no respect from the ridiculously unrealistic England fans.

Of course to really fit in at the top level, the players themselves have to be technically deficient too and preferably armed at all times.

It's what the England team is all about.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
