They have cheated us out of the title. Nothing more, nothing less
When you put it like that...I suppose!

And it’s true it would genuinely be a deterrent. For sure City and PSG make the transfer deals happen and then fudge the accountancy to make the figures balance with sponsorship deals after. It must be stamped out.

A one year Champs League ban is nothing though. Loss of titles and relegation would be the only shaming that works.

Won the title with 97 points and hoodoo gone? I'd take that, to hell with what everyone else says.

97 points ffs. Would be second highest total in EPL history if they're stripped. No shame in that.

That being said I doubt it will happen.

The only way they'll be stripped of a title is if there is any match fixing shenanigans.

Were Juve stripped of their titles when they were caught?

I don't think Rangers were stripped of titles were they ?

              Aye

Juve were part of the whole 2004-2006 scandal with a few others regarding match fixing, so lost a couple titles over that time and got ****ed out of the division.
Got away easy IMO considering they've more than likely been up to the same thing for God knows how long.

Rangers were cooking the books and from a football perspective, only had to accept a demotion to the third division, IIRC.

Most City could possibly get, is a temporary ban from European competition, and a fine*.
UEFA would be tempered in any action against the big clubs. Don't want to rock the boat too much.

*Let's not forget that fine. UEFA would like that money.

No, the club just ceased to exist through liquidation. Technically it is a new club everyone supports now.

Thats what I meant though, as it had gone on for so long, there was no real merit in saying (in 2012), 'by the way, you actually would have won the League in 91/92' to Hearts (who were second that year).

They were found guilty made to pay, couldn't and went bust so more should have been made of it. Rangers just devalued the League for a ten year period. For the clubs that rarely win anything it just takes the piss.

I believe HMRC are still after payments from the players who received the Tax benefits.

Technically they went bust, reformed under a new name (registered as a new company), and had to re-apply for entry to the bottom league. So they actually weren't ever demoted. They ceased to exist and a new club was formed and let back in.

The fact they trade on their illustrious past has been controversial (I am sure someone took them to court for marketing as Scotlands most succesful club - and lost).

City have so much money behind them they will never, ever go bust, so the only thing that can happen is that they are made to produce accurate accounts and if they are incapable of doing so they are penalised heavily.

The problem surely is exacerbated by the accounting happening retrospectively. We wont even know yet how badly they are cheating this year.

PSG are a classic example when they alleged expenditure for Neymar and Mbappe was more than their turnover. Hence the Mbappe loan. The fact that Mbappe was a loan signing was tantamount to them admitting they would cook the books at a later date to make it work. It is so blatant, that iss what is staggering. When did PSG or Man City ever sell a player for big money? Yet they continually have insane transfer budgets.

If Man City were barred from the UEFA Champions League AND got transfer ban - both for 2 years - then I think that would be fitting punishment.

I am not sure Pep would feck off though. I think he might see it as an opportunity to bring through young players and try to add to the domestic titles that they have won. He is a bit of a prick - but he is a total winner. I think he would see it as a challenge and never shut up about it for the 2 years whilst they are banned.

In that case they should be banned as all of their matches have been fixed

2 year CL ban and he'd be gone, surely. That would take him to a decade without winning the CL if he stayed.

He's already hoovered almost all of the domestic trophies going during his time in Germany and England, FA Cup next week would complete the set. That European drought must be weighing on him. He still needs to prove he can do it without that Barca team he inherited.

I wonder what the top clubs around Europe and England are thinking and if they are having a word with Uefa. You’d think clubs that have got to the the top over so many years of doing it properly and have proper histories would hate these instant rich clubs. Didn’t the top clubs try and stop Chelsea from joining that elite group that has so much power and say over football in Europe?

I recall that it was said that Liverpool and several other clubs had voiced concern to the PL with regard to £ity dealings
