I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

A mate of mine him and his dad had season tickets together for about 25 years, his dad died a year or so before we won the league. As happy as he was when we won the league he was gutted that he never got to see us win the title with his dad, were it not for City they might have got to see a couple together. Can't imagine how this makes him feel.
interestingly, the only other time i've heard this same story from friends in similar context was also FSG-related--when the red sox won their first world series in living history. the people i know were lousy with folks bringing booze down to their father and grandfathers' graves to celebrate and let them know it had finally happened.

was touching then. less enthused about this development.

I don't think he would be doing stuff like that, probably wouldn't celebrate if we were awarded those titles back then. But it's one of those big moments in your life that you want to share with those close to you that he has potentially been taken away from him. That's just one example and an extreme one at that but it shows how football influences people's lives and how many people could potentially have been impacted by cheating on this scale.

If they can prove players being paid offshore, isnt this also a criminal issue... tax avoidance and so forth?

The sheer audacity of City saying they are surprised at this is a surprise itself

I would have thought it should be but there doesn't seem to be any mention of it.

If these charges are upheld then i wonder if other clubs in the league will look to sue Citeh?

Missed out on a league/cup because Citeh cheated? Sue them
Missed out on a European place because Citeh cheated? Sue them
Relegated because Citeh cheated? Sue them

                          Everyone should sue them, irrespective

Sky / BT & overseas tv companies paid through the nose for rights to a product that was in essence bent. Sue Citeh and the league

The only real winners in this mess will be lawyers

That would be great. Sue them into oblivion.

They will likely argue the overseas salary was for ambassadorship work and the playing salary was paid fully by the UK football club operation.

But if they’re uk residents for tax purposes, all of that income would need to be declared for tax purposes. Wonder if that happened.
