    Hmmm - I thought they had ? - They also paid a fine !!!

Sentence was revoked as being time barred where as the EPL doesn't have that issue !

City argued that the documents had been tainted by theft but did not dispute they were not accurate.

IIRC - They wished some of the UEFA people dead ?
I make no apologies, this is me

Oh, of course it’d never happen. But the idea of it is hilarious.

Isn't there a hearing date set for Autumn 2024? I don't think they can really be anymore specific than that. I would expect it to take months for the initial hearing (City will attempt to frustrate and drag it out at every possible step) even then when any decision is made there will be appeals etc. Nothing can happen this season, I guess a punishment could be handed down next season (2024-25) depending what it is but I suspect the fact it is a historic case rather than a current one (like the Everton and Forest ones) that any punishment won't be applied until all appeals etc are exhausted.

If everyone does it, they may all get points deductions - but it’d even out because everybody would be doing it.

Essentially, City would win the league with a record of 38 wins out of 38. But nobody would ever play them or even acknowledge them. So in reality, 1st place would be meaningless and 2nd place would become the real champions.

It’d become a farce and the Premier League would have to act.

But ultimately, it’d send a fantastic message and it’d be hilarious to see everybody just ignoring and boycotting City.
Yep and also the rest of the PL could possibly go on strike ?

I wonder though if the cases against Everton and Forest, and the punishments will be used as precedent. If these teams have to swallow punishment it is a better narrative for the case against City.

I remember all of this similar chat against Rangers (albeit totally different charges and cheating) and the chat was the same. 'It will never happen', 'too big to fail' etc etc. Next thing you know they are out of business and playing Div 4.

I'm not sayiong the punishments against City will definitely materialise, but I find it hard to believe based on what is happening to Everton and Forest that nothing will happen either.
                Modifying post.

And given that everton and forest have supposedly cooperated with the enquiry then you'd imagine that city should be seriously penalised for being so obstructive.

You would think that the punishment for City would be more severe if they are found guilty because of the nature of the charges, Everton and Forest have handed in their financial results and have been deemed to have broken the rules in plain sight. City have seemingly been doing all they could to bend/break the rules covertly, I wouldn't be surprised if they get away with some of it because what they have done isn't with in the spirit of the rules but technically isn't against the rules (e.g. the difference between tax evasion and tax avoidance). Whatever happens though City will be arguing about the accuracy of the info and how it was obtained etc even though most people have a good idea of what they have done proving it will be difficult.

Is a CAS appeal possible for any sanctions issued by the PL? I’d imagine City owners would fight to the death to retain their sportswashed status.

They can appeal, but not to CAS this time.

The independent commission will be formed of three members, who will be selected by Murray Rosen KC, the chair of the Premier League's judicial panel.

The three-person commission can include any of the 15 members of the judicial panel, as well as non-members.

Once a judgement is made, the Premier League and Man City will be able to appeal - although it cannot be taken to the CAS.

Instead, Rosen would appoint an appeal panel made up of new members. There are currently six members of the Premier League appeal panel.

Good, so no-one in the CAS for City Group to bribe then!

Thanks Mark. One less route out of any judgement for them.

Will be interesting to see where, according to the Electoral Roll, the panel members currently reside and where they reside in a few years.
