The money on offer in both the MLB and NBA still blows Haaland contract out of the water

The largest Basketball contracts are nudging towards $300m over 5 years. Basketball contracts generally don't go beyond 5 years at a time.

Largest baseball contract in terms of total money is $765m over 15 years signed by Juan Soto to play for the Mets.

I hadn’t considered a multi year transfer ban being part of the punishment. Didn’t Arsenal have something similar recently???
I think they will have drafted the new contract early termination clause and pitched the monetary offer to anticipate many of the outcomes from the judgement. That has to include insurance on the players availability in case of relegation imho.
We are here for a good time not a long time....

Top news. He’s just a good hamstring tear from being a complete donkey. Then he’ll be stuck on their books for years

Or another club from the City group would buy him and take his wages off City's books.

Ah that's a good point, I hadn't thought of that. Stupid multi-club models

Zero incentive or motivation left in the tank after signing that deal. Absolutely bonkers by city.

Must be confident the charges will fail or will be a wrist slap.

I read it the other way, worried that they will be hit hard and looking to tie down their assets.

I'd say their activity this January is entirely unrelated to the charges.

Their net spend since signing Haaland is barely above zero. They've realised that they're in a massive pickle with recent results leaving them out of the top 4, and now they are spending their way out of it. They have loads of wiggle room in PSR terms.

Tieing Haaland down to that contract does seem a bit mental for all concerned, and doesn't look like a great deal for anybody. A puzzle.
                        Oh I don't know.

Marmoush on 300K as well, I think they are doubling down, giving everyone the finger.
                          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Seriously? He’s had one breakout season, his numbers are otherwise not remarkable

So much risk in this one

Think he is a big risk but then again City can just stock pile the players that do not work out.

Look at Grealish. 100m and basically just squad filler.

Marmoush I think is having a season similar to Darwin's last season in Portugal and like Darwin in that season has a team being set up around him in a manner that would not happen at City.

Is noticeable that, unlike Salah, when Marmoush goes to play for Egypt he does not look head and shoulders above a lot of their other players and he misses a lot of chances for them.

For me the player City sold, Alverez, suited them more than Marmoush will if he goes there. He will get goals but I think like Grealish he will have a lot of his attacking instincts trained out of him under Pep.

Man city have splurge probably hasn't helped our negotiations this winter and any summer spending we may or may not do.

If it's another window where we'll be opportunistic then it'll pan out like the last one, even if we're replacing big hitters. Good deals are becoming few and far between unless you're a Brighton who can afford risks.
