For me it supports the idea that they have been lying about the ticket sales at the Emptihad for years. More fraud that’s being overlooked. It’s a joke they are expanding the capacity from 53 to 61k when they can’t take half that to Wembley. It does create a further opportunity for financial doping though I suppose.
I imagine a lot of the empty seats are pre-bought season tickets....bought by unnamed people, most likely with club money in some nefarious way. But as they are paid for seats, they count towards the total attendance, even if unoccupied.

Increasing to 61K will just make that deception even more obvious I would think.

Am I the only one hoping they get stripped of their titles?

What they’ve done is as bad, arguably worse, than the calciopoli scandal and Juve were stripped of two titles. And relegated.

I don't see it happening, as I have said before because of the damage the PL will see it doing to their 'brand'
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The damage is done. I can see both sides of the argument for stripping them or not.

I guess it will depend on just how many of the charges are proven and how badly they tried to obstruct the investigation and also the level of respect and cooperation they showed the enquiry panel.

I totally agree & would love to see them stripped of titles, that goes without saying. An old saying I’m reminded of is All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

                    So that would be

                    Liverpool +3
                    United + 3
                    Arsenal + 2

If the runner up gets the title? No idea if thats the case. Crazy to think United were once challengers

Yeah hard to recall who was at the wheel at the time? Was it Ole?

The only one of those they actually challenged for was 2011/12 when they lost on goal difference.

In 17/18 they finished 19 points behind City on 100.

In 20/21 they were about a dozen points behind City from around the half way point onwards.
                        .

                        .

They haven't challenged since Ferguson left.

They got 2nd place in 17/18 (Mourinho)and 20/21 (Ole), but neither season were title challenges.

I don’t think it will happen, but it should. We’ve all seen the emails between the club, the owners and the sponsors. We all know they cheated. They knew they were breaking the rules otherwise why would funds be transferred from owner to club via that route? They knew they were cheating.

I think the EPL will agree a punishment with them. They’ll make some noise for the cameras but they will have agreed to it beforehand. All about avoiding tens if not hundreds of millions in legal costs for the EPL.

It is the panel that set the punishment not the PL. If they appeal, a new panel will assess the verdict and punishment and provide a final position.
