There is something about Man City which I can't quite put my finger on. I know what Alex means.

They've had memorable moments i.e. 6-1 vs Man Utd, QPR title decider etc. Chelsea have been distasteful, and we've been involved in some intense meetings with them. Man City seem nice. Maybe once they bring in a real heavyweight manager e.g. Simeone, Guardiola, they'll stand out.

Its like buying the best £50 video game of its generation, then instantly buying all the cheats out there (so you don't die, don't lose ammo, etc) and finding the game a bit boring when you finish it.

      City are like that.

There is no gravitas or romance about City or Chelsea.

Then again, in 30 years time, they might be thought of in the same terms as us.

They aren't traditionally a rival of ours so it doesn't really stoke any passion in our fans. They went from not troubling our position in the game to fast tracking right past us - apart from last season we've never really been challenging for the same things.

Coupled to the fact that they obviously hate United too just means that they're a bit meh for us.

They are just an anadyne club.

Dont really remember much about them in particular games though.
They play some lovely stuff sometimes - Silva is a mesmerizing player when they click. Aguero is a real star too. I know what you mean though, overall they miss some x-factor that you feel they should have. Their tendency to turn off both in games and for sections of seasons has to be part of it.

The thing that made United and Chelsea so hateable was a mechanical efficiency and vicious ruthlessness. Not something you associate with City.

                          I quite like city.

Because it gives United and their fans the utter ****s, but I don't know enough City fans for them to be a bother.

City are an odd one I don't like or hate them, I guess I 'nothing' them, they are the least offensive of the options to win the league. I guess part of it is that their success is annoying the Man Utd fans, but for me the main reason is I don't think that any of the managers have been particularly offensive, Man Utd had Ferguson, Chelsea Mourinho who are fairly outspoken and generally ****ish in their behaviour, even Wenger at Arsenal can do that too, but on the whole City managers haven't been that outspoken. And while they do have some dirty players none of them are that irritating, to compare with the likes of John Terry, Gary Neville, etc.
Maybe this would change if we were competing against them for the title but at the moment: meh

I do think it has a lot to do with direct games played, big games too, and the rivalry and perceived unfairness fans are left with after.

Of course, any rival club managed by Maureen is going to have a massive influence and leave a bad taste in the mouth after such encounters.

But like you with City, i sort of see them as neutral, they are they club i say when it comes to things we can't win...'rather them than so and so', but i do feel that could change quickly were we to have a couple of tasty finals or semi finals against them that don't go our way, or do and they moan moan moan.

Even though they pipped us last year, i had no bad feeling for them, mainly because it was all out own fault.

edit: Ok, no, i did have a go at them over cash and being cheats for money doping, but that soon passed as for me, i just told myself it takes away from the legitimacy of their titles, just like Chavski!.

I think it's the stadium which adds to it also. It's sole less, big, half empty and the noise generated peaters out. The players cannot feel it and it shows with the performances they put out.
