Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has vowed the club will sign 'high-quality' players after a 'disappointing' campaign.

Khaldoon told City supporters to expect changes, with 'time-served' players set to depart in the summer ahead of a Premier League title tilt next season.

City have already been heavily linked with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin de Bruyne and Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling.

And after a trophyless 2014-15, Khaldoon is prepared to back manager Manuel Pellegrini in the quest to challenge for a sensational quadruple.

"We've created a nucleus at Manchester City, we have a great nucleus that we have here, we want to preserve this nucleus, but at the same time we want to go to the next level," Khaldoon told City TV.

"We want a squad that has the capability and quality to win the Premier League, compete and win the Champions League and compete and be able to go all the way in two cup competitions in England and I think you will see some changes.

Manchester City transfer news: Khaldoon insists top players want to join Blues

"You will see some players who have served us well, and maybe it's time for them to move onto their next challenge, and you will see us in the market bringing high quality individuals, that fit within what we are aspiring to, coming in the summer.

"I can assure you the squad will be stronger, this team will be more competitive. I am both confident and excited about what's coming next year."

Khaldoon also predicted it would be a 'hot market' in the summer window.

I hope City fail to land any of their targets. If Aguero gets injured, they're not that great.

Hope they go balls out for Raheem.

Fingers crossed. That recent spurious £60m rating article was great timing. If we get £60m I'll laugh and cry.

And as mentioned above, they'll still be sh*t WHEN Aguero gets injured. City are just an illegally expensive version of Liverpool (i.e. with Sturridge).
          One tit for another.

Manchester City may have to spend £155m to sign Paul Pogba. Juventus want £80m for the 22-year-old France midfielder, who wants a five-year contract at £250k-a-week - which is £65m - plus a signing-on fee of £10m. (Daily Star Sunday)

Alternatively, City will pay £150m up front for Pogba, Liverpool's England winger Raheem Sterling, 20, and 23-year-old Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg. (Daily Mirror)

Manchester City want to sign Angel Di Maria from neighbours Manchester United - but they will face competition from Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich and Barcelona for the 27-year-old Argentina midfielder. (Sunday Times - subscription required)

That's like missing out on a table at the Fat Duck and deciding to go for a kebab instead.
