Pep Guardiola reportedly agrees Manchester City deal from next season

The Bayern coach is reported in the Middle East as having penned a deal with the two-time Prem champs

Pep Guardiola has agreed to take over as Manchester City manager from next season, claim reports in the Middle East.

Qatari sports channel BeIn Sports have reported that the Catalan coach has signed a contract that will see him manager in the Premier League for the first time.

Guardiola has strong links with Qatar, having been having played there for two years with Al-Ahli, as well as officially endorsing their bid to host the 2022 World Cup.

He has even been linked to the national team job with the Gulf State , with German newspaper SportBild splashing the news across its front page in February, suggesting Guardiola would take charge of Qatar for 2022 in one of the best-paid managerial contracts in football.

While Guardiola is rumoured to have already entered into discussions with Qatar, he admitted in the book Herr Pep that before he manages a national team he wishes to take a job in England, and it is no secret that City are long-time admirers of the former Barcelona boss.

BeIn Sports reports that the agreement for Pep to take over at the Etihad was sealed some three weeks ago, with Guardiola already set on leaving Bayern.

Tensions between Guardiola and the hierarchy in Munich had briefly led City to believe earlier this summer that they might be able to prise the 44-year-old away from the Bundesliga giants.

Even in the absence of his immediate arrival, Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano - allegedly brought to Manchester with the ultimate aim of luring Guardiola - were reported as working on a proposal that would see Pep sign up in advance for a 2016 move.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in April that he didn't think Guardiola would ever leave for "a club like City" but was notably silent on the Spaniard's future beyond the end of this coming season.

"I don't worry about the rumours," he said of reports Pep would leave. "It's just proof of his quality.

"But I can't imagine that Guardiola leaves for a club like Manchester City. I am sure that he will be team manager at Bayern at least until June 30, 2016."

It appears Rummenigge may have got the date correct, but if reports are to believed than "a club like Manchester City" is where Pep Guardiola's future lies.

            Ouch !!

A friendly of course but that's a side only a couple of players short of being their best side.

Just seen this, yes its just a friendly but **** me could you imagine if that was us? Aguero and Fernandinho are the only players missing really. Hopefully Aguero continues his injury form this year and the wheels fall off this lot.

Probably reading too much into today's game but they haven't looked great in awhile IMO, City's transfers since 2011 haven't been great I think it's fair to say. Another possible factor is that the core of their team - Hart, Kompany, Toure, Silva, Aguero was assembled 4/5 years ago, perhaps it's gotten a bit stale and is beginning to age ?

Yeah it's only a friendly but I wouldn't be overly surprised if they struggle this season.

Would be funny if we finished in the top 4 and they didn't. Raheem wouldn't hear the end of it on twitter.

As close as that team is to their first 11, Yaya (when he is arsed) and Aguero takes that team to the next level.

They are linked to Berahino now.

wonder how much roma are paying him, surely a massive pay cut? 14m he probably would have been worth a punt.
