Nandrolone, specifically. Worth adding that he was eventually exonerated.

After a successful playing career at Barcelona, Pep Guardiola went to play in Serie A, with Brescia.

A few months into his new career he tested positive for the steroid nandrolone following a 5-0 defeat to Lazio.

The Spaniard had also been found with it in his system after a league match against Piacenza two weeks previously and, despite vehemently protesting his innocence, received a four-month ban.

Several leading players tested positive for the drug, which can appear in dietary supplements, at that time. Most served short bans and got on with their careers.

Guardiola, unhappy at the tarnishing of his reputation, campaigned against the verdict long after he had served his ban, left Serie A, and completed spells in Doha and Mexico.

In 2007 he was exonerated by the Italian FA but had to prove his innocence again when Italy’s anti-doping authorities reopened the case. Then Barcelona coach, he was finally cleared of all charges in 2009

On this day: Pep Guardiola fails second drug test
By Liam Apicella, Features Editor | 5y
When Pep Guardiola walks away from football, he will be remembered as one of the most cultured and talented player-turned-managers to have ever graced the game.

Yet, back in 2001, something occurred that threatened to leave Guardiola's reputation in tatters.

Following 11 largely successful years as a player with Barcelona, the holding midfielder was keen to try his hand abroad. He eventually settled on a switch to Brescia, where he would replace AC Milan-bound Andrea Pirlo.

What do we reckon about Pep going with 3 centre backs? Will their win rate improve? When Laporte returns will he go back to the usual formation?

I am not a city fan, but I love soccer.

I am glad someone is talking the truth though... Liverpool and Man United are the only teams benefiting from VAR.

I am also a flat earth theorist, and I strongly believe everything is controlled and fixed by the elite (it is as obvious as ever).

But, I am just now realizing soccer in England is no different. Glad there is a team and group of supporters out there which values truth above all.

If Pep turns it up again next season, it will take fixing to a level where it will become too blatent to ignore. I hope that happens.

Keep up the fight... all the best from USA.
