No chance they will even get a single year ban - UEFA will probably soon 'reverse' their decision claiming some BS about some new 'data' has been made available. Failing that, if it does go to the CAS, they will be paid off handsomely and miraculously come to the finding that City were treated unfairly.

Their cheating affected all competitions so they should be punished across all competitions also.

A 2 year ban and a £25m fine suggests that UEFA are also pretty convinced they have breeched the rules. I think they will serve a ban. Maybe reduced to one year as Milan had to though I am sure their ban was reduced as they decided to comply, something City have refused to do.

City have been scrambling to cover this up since the investigation was launched. It is a PR disaster whichever way you look at it. The evidence seems conclusive no matter which way you look at it and creative accountancy can only explain so much.

As soon as sponsorship is provided by a company which is connected to the club suspicions must be raised. It is bent as ****. The numbers have never stacked up.

The severity of the ban from both of Uefa’s elite club competitions, and the scale of the fine, reflects how seriously Uefa’s FFP compliance bodies consider the club to have breached the rules and code of conduct.

City were found guilty by Uefa’s club financial control body (CFCB) of having falsely inflated their sponsorship revenues, when they made submissions for the FFP compliance process. The guilty finding follows an investigation sparked by the publication of “leaked” emails and documents by the German magazine Der Spiegel in November 2018.

The “leaked” emails and documents appeared to show that City’s owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan of the Abu Dhabi ruling family, was mostly funding the huge, £67.5m annual sponsorship of the City shirt, stadium and academy by his country’s airline, Etihad. One of the leaked emails suggested that only £8m of that sponsorship in 2015-16 was funded directly by Etihad, and the rest was coming from Mansour’s own company vehicle for the ownership of City, the Abu Dhabi United Group.

                Why would this be true?

Pundits were eulogising about them when they ran away with the League 2 years ago, saying they were the best team they'd ever seen.

And why would UEFA give a ****? Big clubs have been knocked out every year in the CL and will continue to be. The dream final for UEFA is Barca v Real and it has never happened. They just have to get used to the fact that you cant buy your way to the Final of the CL because at some point you are going to have to beat a top team over 2 legs, where you can only have so many players on the pitch and bench.

My favourite BlueMoon post is the one saying they should go flat out to win the CL this season and then refuse to accept the trophy.

Assuming they lose any appeal(s) I wonder if pep will consider his position, he's said his time at city will be considered a failure if he doesn't win the champions league, he could use this as an excuse to walk away.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
