Guardiola convinced Manchester City will escape Champions League ban

    • Manager fully expects club’s appeal to be successful
    • ‘I’m so confident. Next season we will be there’

Pep Guardiola is confident Manchester City will have their two-year ban from Uefa competition quashed when the court of arbitration for sport delivers its verdict on the club’s appeal on Monday.

In February City were given the suspension after being found to have seriously misled Uefa and broken financial fair play rules. Yet Guardiola expects the club to be in the Champions League next season.

“On Monday I’m so confident – because I know and hear the arguments of the club – [that] next season we will be there and after I will give my opinion and the club will give a statement,” City’s manager said.

City play Real Madrid in next month’s Champions League last-16 second leg at the Etihad Stadium, holding a 2-1 lead. If they progress they will face Juventus or Lyon.

City are going to get away with this aren't they?

      I think they will TBH.

The oul Covid has become a threat to business worldwide etc, and City's argument will be based around economic concerns and restrictions around growth etc

Nice little fine/earner for UEFA and welcomed back. Every word from City of late suggests theyll be OK.

Hope I'm wrong of course, and hopefully that perveived arrogance of City towards UEFA will stick in the memory. The volatile nature of the next year or two might just work in their favour though.

What’s the point of FFP so..... if CAS can overrule what was supposed to be irrefutable evidence then City, PSG and co can carry in taking the the piss

Tbh I don't really give a ****. Started to get into a mindset of only worrying about us. "Worrying"

We've won the league and CL in 12 months with those cunts around and at their strongest. Why would we worry? Bring it on. I really don't care.

I'm concerned that they can be given the green light to resolve their defensive issues, as well as replace David Silva, and bring in some players to deal with aging players.

We've kept our consistency, while City have lost theirs, but I fear they will chuck money to bridge the consistency gap. There's also how long we can keep up our own consistency levels, on top of beginning to replenish our squad given the prime ages of a lot of our players.

Ok, but that's the most self centred view possible And I'm not sure it holds, it would kill FFP entirely, and that will be detrimental to us long term.

It’s just a ****ter that at the same time as City, Utd, and Chelsea get the go ahead to spend what they like, we’re now going to be cutting our cloth even further.

Not worried about them but would be delighted to see their 'fans' but back in their boxes. Gobby little ****s that they are!

Funny thing about City being allowed in the next season's CL would be Utd not getting in if they finish 5th, which is more than likely. Reliant on City not winning it of course but that's more likely than them winning it

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                              Scum will finish above Leicester
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

                                Yep it feels inevitable.

Leicester gone to **** since January and the break hasn’t helped them.
