Impossible to compare as Bourn were utterly dreadful and that open style of play under Howe was one of the reason why they finished where they did and was a death sentence for them defensively.

The aerial thing though is a concern for him as he is small for a CB. With City though Ake will be in a side that has 80% possession and dominants most games. He fits the mould for them as he's a nice baller for a CB, quick and physical. Interesting to see how he gets on as every mistake is highlighted when your are playing at the top level.

I saw this perspective on Twitter - Ake costing £41m seems like a lot for a player coming from a relegated club, who need to sell him due to the fact he doesn’t have a relegation wage clause and in a depressed Covid market.

Could they be setting the bar purposely high so as to inflate transfers for other players and other clubs who don’t have their money - “why should we sell player x for £20m when Ake cost £41m......”
