It’s been rumbling on for years apparently, City’s Lawyers string it out - PL have a solid case but there’s a good chance City will never be penalised.

PL have to be seen to be upholding the rules, but City will just keep paying their legal team £m’s!

Nothing earh shattering, but sort of confirmation of what we thought would happen!!!

If these charges are upheld then i wonder if other clubs in the league will look to sue Citeh?

Missed out on a league/cup because Citeh cheated? Sue them
Missed out on a European place because Citeh cheated? Sue them
Relegated because Citeh cheated? Sue them

Sky / BT & overseas tv companies paid through the nose for rights to a product that was in essence bent. Sue Citeh and the league

For me that's why they won't get stripped on any titles etc, because if they do the PL are admitting that season was compromised, teams who didn't make Europe or teams that got relegated, Sky/BT or the fans could try and claim they paid for a dodgy product.

Also it can't be limited to just those seasons even if they are within the rules now they were built on dodgy money without that they wouldn't be where they are. You can't say they may have been dodgy from 2008-2018 but after that they were within the rules therefore that's OK.

They will likely argue the overseas salary was for ambassadorship work and the playing salary was paid fully by the UK football club operation.

They would have to be able to demonstrate what they were doing for the overseas income. If it is effectively a tax evasion scheme, HMRC will investigate all the club’s staff and contractors for IR35 compliance. If they are pissed at the PL investigation, it will be a bloodbath if HMRC get involved! Fingers crossed!!

This was my arguement for why FSG were not pumping millions in. They were playing it straight

There's loads of precedents for it though. Look at the Juve **** from years ago. Melbourne Storm also got stripped of their titles a few years ago.

Going to be interesting to see how much fight the FA have in them. You can bet your arse the City lawyers will be coming at them like a hoard of zombies in The Walking Dead

The only real, effective punishment for this is that City are forced to have a Premier League official of requisite experience and gravitas on their board, who has a remit to investigate any matter pertinent to the club, is not sackable by the club (only the Premier League) and who has an effective veto over any board decision.

It's obviously pointless to give them a fine, and clearly removing points from previous seasons is so fraught with issues that it just won't be considered, but, considering they are being charged with opacity over previous misdemeanours I think the only real punishment worthy of committing them to is the above - for a period of 5 to 10 years.

I don't care how messy it is for the PL, If they are found guilty of cheating, with schemes to avoid detection then they have to have retrospective points deduction.

Otherwise how can they remain as the league champions?? And where is the meaningful deterrent for anyone else.

We won’t get league titles back though.
