I suspect that there will be something that will stop clubs from suing them as it would be a free for all, at the moment it's £2.2m per position in the table per season, So potentially all the teams in the league could sue for that.

They took CL places from teams who would have finished 4th were it not for their cheating. As champions they get a bigger slice of the English CL (TV??) revenue pot which is split 40:30:20:10 to teams finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively so there is that too which is a clear financial loss.

Those are just direct prize money that clubs would have received, clubs also argue that as PL champions or a team in the CL they could have got better sponsorship deals etc.

I suspect if anything were to happen in that regard the PL might take back some of the prize money and share it out amongst some of the other clubs in a bid to settle this and not have a legal nightmare to deal with obviously it would be way less than City got and those clubs lost, but I suspect that once the hearing (and appeals) are over the PL won't want this to drag on as it devalues the product.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think the stuff around the white paper is probably a distraction. This is the PL showing the Government they have teeth and dont need a regulator. But it doesnt mean the same charges wouldnt probably apply.

The PL can order them to pay damages according so that's quite possible, would be quite sweet if they could pay for half a Bellingham or so.
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Does this mean that there could be further charges to follow for the seasons from 2018 to now. I mean, we all know City's revenue took a big upturn during Covid, whilst everybody else went down, and then there were the strange sponsership deals with companies that didn't actually seem to exist. Will they be looked into, or was the remit only for certain seasons?
There are charges from 2018 onwards too. Though they appear to be related to City being obstructive in investigations rather than financial.

So, if City do get forced to provide the documentation that they (reading between the lines) are still withholding, then that could open another can of worms....or is that just wishful thinking?

              Good point.

That’s a question for Nick Harris!

I don’t want to watch, it’ll make me too angry

It’s mad, we already knew about all of this, because of Der Spiegel, the UEFA investigation and the CAS hearing. And because it was just all so blatant.

But it’s like we just accepted it as part of what we’re up against, because what else could we do?

But it’s absolutely mind-boggling. Liverpool have been scandalously cheated out of

And all the individual bonuses on a player level. It would be an astronomic bill

Plus 18/19 we’d have been undefeated in the league

Most likely yeah. Unless the mid table version of City managed by Sam Allardyce somehow pulled off a shock win.
