He is saying they want their day in court today but he is well aware their lawyers will use every dirty tactic possible to drag this out for years and years.

Disagree he's not culpable, how naive do you think he is?

Was it not reported that some of the 115 charges are to do with payments to Pep and the players that were never declared to the tax man and done through third parties?

If that is true, then he sure as hell knows about that.

Yep - Only have to look at the Mancini contract to realise it was a total con job

Interesting comments but **** all will be done about it in the end imo, I'll believe it when I see it. I see Newcastle in advanced talks to sign some multi million quid shirt sponsorship deal with a "Saudi based events company". City MkII

Saw that also. They are hiding in plain site aren’t they? They not far short of admit how bent the deal is in the announcement.

I am pretty sure they give zero **** as to what Pep thinks. And he recently signed a newcontract while under investigation. Wonder if he has a few quid offshore? Their wage bill being what it is, someone somewhere is not being honest about their income.

The PL may be weak but reckon HMRC would be a little more interested.

                    Yes, exactly.

The main reason why they refuse to release details of remuneration of the playing staff. HMRC should do a fulll audit regardless.

Cheating aside - Pep is a brilliant manager and I don't think his tactics and style of play would work unless he was working with the absolute best players, it's why he's never managed a Spurs or Wolves type team.

My praise for him ends there though.

He's a brilliant coach, there is no doubt about it but yeah makes things a whole lot easier when you pick the favorite every time.

                          he's a brilliant coach, if he has a 2Bill team, with a 0.5Bill bench..........

he needs the cream of the crop players to coach, no way he would extract the same level of performnce that JK has from some of the players we have had.

If he could they wouldn't have spent hundreds of millions on defenders only to continue buying more & discard those that he cannot coach

To be fair I think he deserves some credit for what he did at Barca he did have some generational talents and a fat cheque book, so it is difficult to judge exactly how much of the credit he deserves for that but definately a decent amount.

Since that he has won what you would expect him to given the expectation of the clubs and the money spent.

Money doesn't necessarily buy success you have to spend it the right way and develop a good team which he obviously has done. He is clearly a very good manager that isn't in question, what is is where his achievements should rank in comparison to other great managers and for me circumstances and situations at clubs water that down somewhat eg at Bayern he simply continued their existing success

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You could also argue that he just keeps buying until he gets it right.

With City alone, look at his track record of buying over and over for set positions until he gets a guy that works in that position.

Most other managers have to get it right first or second time otherwise they have to make do with who they have.

He can buy centre back after centre back, full back after full back and so on until the player works within his system.

His mistakes in the transfer market do not matter as they have no consequences. Players can flop, they can take ages to settle. None of that matters to a Pep team as he can simply replace them quickly and do so again and again.

He has had that luxury to one degree or another at every club he managed, with City being the ultimate example.

Good manager yes, great manager maybe. He has never had to build a team on finite resources, he has never had to manage against adversity as the teams he goes to are already the wealthiest and/or the best in the division.

This is my issue with it as well, especially when City folk quote Van Dijk's price or selective net spend stats

There's no jeopardy for Pep, and that's the difference - part of the reason we didn't refresh our midfield recently was that we had already spent 50m on Keita and couldn't just do that again (right or wrong). Pep just doesn't live in that world
