I am not saying that there necessarily has been anything dodgy in this deal benefiting City but clubs buying players from other clubs in the same group has to offer an advantage. Clearly there is a hierarchy in these multi-club groups.Originally posted by BG1973 View Post

I can't think of many cases where a club record signing never plays for the club, before being moved on to a bigger club, maybe there are cases where you buy a record signing and he's not as good as you thought loan him out and he never comes back, or you don't think he was ready, so loaned him out somewhere and he does better than you expected good offers come in and you sell, but I imagine these cases are rather rare. I don't like the multi club system as it feels like there are potentially ways that you can game the system, by moving money around or players values being inflated or deflated as appropriate. I am not saying any of that has happened here. The less fair minded among us might wonder if a few small moves to test the waters and see how much heat/attention they get might paving the way for bigger deals in future...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.Comment

There muat be an advantage but city could have bought him direct for the same fee.
This seems like they are owning clubs as a way to control more players and feed them to city if they're good enough.
That to me is pretty smart if you can afford it...
It gets dodgy though if city then use the clubs to send players to get them off their books.. but the players would have to agree to that so not much of a business plan.Comment

Winning the title wouldn’t have improved FSG and Brendan’s rocky relationship and he would still have been resistant to their data driven model.
Suarez would still have left for Barca.
The same mixed bag of players would still have been signed.
We’d still have struggled the following season and early 2015/16.
Having waited years for him, FSG would still have jumped as soon as Klopp became available.
The only thing that would have given Brendan any chance (in addition to silverware) would have been if he’d had a strong relationship with FSG’s club hierarchy and had bought in to their data driven approach..
