10 year contact for Haaland? I though the PL had changed the rules on long contracts

You can still offer contracts as long as you like it was the spread in the cost/value for book keeping purposes that was limited IIRC
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That's longer than the cumulative total of the new contracts we're apparently willing to offer Mo, Virg and Trent

I think they sense a long transfer ban as part of the punishment but clearly no relegation - they are buying young and locking down key players

Contracts can be as long as you like but the value is still amortized over a 5 year period for PSR stuff

Shows that where there is a will then there is a way…. we can’t sign players or renew contracts, they go boom boom boom and all done

100% on the transfer ban, but I don't think that automatically mean no relegation. They could be dropped to League 2 and plan to be back in 3 years. Holding contracts without a relegation clause could be their way of ensuring that.

They allegedly have £1bn in the bank, so they can do what they want to a certain extent.

That doesn't sound dodgy at all

oh I totally agree, but the financial doping will only get worse after this judgement is handed down. They don't give a **** about the rules and have actively been working towards zero restraints on owner financing in the league which will mean only Sovereign Wealth Funds can compete.

or tying down new contracts and removing elements that would mean they had to sell.\\
I read somewhere that the "failure to co-operate" charges were nailed on

A 9 year contract on £500k per week. So a £234,000,000 contract. The games gone… right?

It’s similar to baseball, basketball,F1 etc. Look at money boxers get as well, it’s the length of the contract that makes it so different and creates the astronomical numbers you are talking about.

This flurry of activity is a bit suspicious. I think they know they are getting away with it. Would a player agree to sign otherwise. Nobody would want to play a league or 2 under.

There must be break clauses in every Signed contract in (the now looks admittedly unlikely) case of City getting relegated or a mass points deduction.

I hadn’t considered a multi year transfer ban being part of the punishment. Didn’t Arsenal have something similar recently???

That's about a years salary for Ronaldo in Saudi

Yeah a nine year contract for an athlete who could receive a career ending injury is nuts. I know that there will be insurance polices in place to mitigate… but imagine the premiums on a (not far off ) 1/4 of a billion pound contract.
