It does, aye, just to clarify, but Chelsea would have been in Pot 2 otherwise.Originally posted by Norbs View PostArsenal would've got it had they won, must come as part of the prize package. Bonkers as it weakens the competition
Much like ourselves going into Pot 2 unless we win on Saturday.
The very fact that those Chelsea bellends could come out of this season with a trophy and a better CL placing annoys me no end.
If the unthinkable happens.
Which it won't."I will make the boys feel your support"

Something needs to happen. There are probably 50 stadium in Europe that could host a final so why don't UEFA wait until the finalists are known and then pick a neutral ground equidistant to those teams? UEFA could charter flights for the fans, alocate 70% of tickets to those that deserve them, split 50/50 and save the remaining 30% for their beloved corporate seats.
This awarding the final years in advance is, let's face it, so that UEFA officials can get a tasty back hander, but does nothing to showcase the final and only distracts from it as a sporting spectacle. We appreciate ithe problem as we've had to deal with it for 3 years in succession. I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a WHU or Palace fan who knows anything about it

I can see that argument, but I can also see the one for having everything arranged in advance. Perhaps they should have some kind of short list of say 4 or 5 places that it could be held and when the finalists are known (or perhaps even at the semi final stage) they could decide a suitable venue. Once somewhere has held it they can't hold it again for a few years.Originally posted by Norbs View PostSomething needs to happen. The problem for me is holding it in a city that can't handle the number of fans and doesn't have regular direct flights from alot of major airports in Europe. For me that is organization 101. If we are going to be honest the majority of finalists are going to come from central or western Europe so that is where they should be held. The cities in those areas with stadia big enough all have good infrastructure. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm not sure they had everything ready in advance. Masses of empty seats and fans unable to get flights and accommodation would suggest otherwiseOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostI can see that argument, but I can also see the one for having everything arranged in advance. The player's body clocks wouldn't have been on Baku time though so can't see that as an excuse. I think it was nerves and Chelsea managed to settle theirs first.Originally posted by Sus View PostAnd having the game start at 11pm local time or whatever it was. That is ridiculous, wonder if it was a reason for that sluggish first half
But yeah, 11pm start just to accommodate TV schedules is ridiculous. Pretty sure penalties in Istanbul fell on Thursday morning
