Solid 7/10 performance.......never taken down the line, but offered nothing going forward apart from one excellent cross.
Not really a surprise given how he's had to come in straight away so he was obviously just settling into the team so some reservation was to be expected. Some hoof balls at times, which is obviously some remnant from his Newcastle/Carroll days, so that will have to be slapped out of him - or encouraged as per the rest of our defence

nah not for me. He isn't going to win us many games, whereas I think Adam will. Adam played one, assist one.

Don't get me wrong the guy looks like a proper left back and I'm delighted we've got him, but if a left back turns out to be our best signing, we've had a very poor close season.

I think he'll address perfectly our long terms problems with LB position as he is as strong defensively as he is good offensively.

Also Downing and him on the left flank will create a whole array of problems for most of defenses and we will finally have the proper balance on the left side up and down the pitch.

He'll fit exceptionally well in our team and when he gets comfortable and learns what Kenny wants from him he'll be an outstanding addition to our team.

I think people don't realize yet how good of a signing he is.

Mixed feelings for Enrique

Jose Enrique admits he was happy to get his Liverpool career up and running on Saturday - but confessed to a feeling of disappointment following the 1-1 draw with Sunderland.

Enrique was handed an Anfield debut by Kenny Dalglish just 24 hours after completing his transfer from Newcastle United, and settled comfortably into the left-back role.

"I am very happy because I only arrived the day before and I played my first game," he said.

"I was surprised. I only found out a few hours before kick-off. I knew Fabio had not trained but it was only this morning they told me.

"I am very happy (with my debut) but I am not really happy with the result. I think in the next few games, if I continue to play, it will be easy to understand players of this quality.

"It was just about defending first, because that is my job. I have plenty more days to train with the team and understand."

"We have to think about the next game. We need more fitness but that is normal, as it is only the first game. I am okay. I am not 100% because I have not trained with the team and I need to get to know everyone. That is normal."

The left side used to be our weak side. Now that's finally sorted we look a little weaker on the right. You can't win

Why did we bother giving Aurelio another year ?

Crazy really that we pay a player every week knowing he'll be fit for about 10 games a season.

We need to sell Insua as well.

Amazing really that we resigned him on a two year contract Should have had one year with an option of another. Not like there were many teams in for him. But he'll be off next summer on a free surely and Insua will be gone this summer or the next, actually come to think of it, next season the squad will probably be about 80% different to the one that started last season.

Still dont see the problem, Aurelio is an excellent backup option, is hardly on £80k p/w and will probably be available for 20 odd games, which is about half of what we'll play.
