He could take over from Hodgson after he fails miserably at the Euro's!

I can imagine that happening. Although I actually think that Sam's back to basics pragmatism will see him do okay in the PL (unless some significant changes are made at some teams).

I think barring humiliation in one of the next two games the draw with France will mean that he keeps the job until the end of world cup qualification. Given his 8 men back tactics I don't see a drubbing coming along, so it'll be Hodgson's England's for a while.

Yes but you would also expect them to be even worse to watch, Although having a look at managers the owners have had in the past, they have never been bothered about being popular

He will easily be on till then, this is Capello's team remember.

I think the real backlash will start after tomorrow. While it was ****e to watch it was a decent result. But another performance like that and the vultures will be circling

Yeah, wasn't really serious, could just see the fun of it happening. The two sons of England failing miserably just after eachother

Yeah, they have presided over some of the most tedious football in the last 10 years. Also few of the managers who have taken on sides left by Sam have managed to combined better play with results. The owners and manager deserve one another.

It would be good. Redknapp's teams are at least often good to watch. It would be nice to have a symbolic changing of the guard from the dinosaurs to a newer generation of managers/coaches.

I have to say I think that the next generation of English educated coaches seem much more interesting than we have seen for a while and doing pretty well. Rodgers, Martinez and Lambert were probably the three most tactically interesting coaches in the PL last year. Pardew and Hughton also seem slightly more outward looking than many older managers. Will eb interesting to see if Clarke make the step up too.

                        It won't happen.

There's no way even Hodgson can lead England to a catastrophe of the scale required. In fact, he's already avoided it, no matter what happens from here.

Ditching Hodgson for Redknapp only two months after appointing him would unmistakably make the FA look like they don't know what they're doing.

Of course, the fact is they don't know what they're doing, but even the f*ckwits at the FA don't like to make it quite that obvious.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Well, at some point after the Euros it's possible, but not until at least two years later, as the great seer, dww, has already intimated.

I never thought anyone would ever say this to you Bender but you're getting ahead of yourself.

I think so too but Hodgson clearly disagrees.
