It doesn't pain me at all, Carragher had a decent comeback game; I'd just rather give players the credit they deserve, and in this case I think you were detracting from Coates' game by somehow making out he was dependant on Carragher when in my opinion he clearly wasn't. I'm not really interested in your 'guarantees' as I can form my opinion from watching this game, and games like vs. Stoke when Coates' form actually improved in the second half when Carragher went off - so I use instances like that to support my arguments.

I was truly impressed by him. Looked very comfortable out there, no panic, calm, composed, good passing and very good defending.

Can someone clarify if his name is pronounced "Coats", as in get your coat, or "Cwatez" as the commentator called him all night.

His dad is Scottish so surely it's "Coats"?!

I'm under the impression it is how the commentator is saying it.

And I completely agree about David Luiz, he was at fault for both of the goals, kept bellers onside and left Kelly wide open, so glad we have Coates instead.

I'm sure the correct pronunciation is "coats" but you know often people take on the incorrect way of saying a foreign name if, especially if they are native to that country. I.e. Heinze is should no way be pronounced as 'Hein-za' and Sylvestre Stallone should be 'Stallonee' like the Italian player Roberto Stellone or Ray Romano's character from everybody Loves Raymond being Ray Barone, rather than saying the e sound at the end.
