                  It seems odd to sack the manager with one game to go before the end of the season and nothing to play for, do they avoid paying him an end of season bonus or something?
                  The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                        It struck me as odd too.

                        The only thing I can think of is that they have put Martinez out of his misery whilst creating a less toxic atmosphere at Goodison Park come the final day. I can't imagine he will have missed out on any bonuses though.

                                Apparently the new manager must have the following:

                                Experience in managing a side that challenged for the Premier League
                                Champions League experience
                                Nice teeth

                                There aren't many who can meet those criteria.
                                That rug really tied the room together.
