I seriously don't get how they can claim to be as skint as they are though?

They've consistently finished in the top half of the Premiership for the last 10 years, never buy players and have a pretty reasonable wage bill. They also have an average attendance of 36k which isn't awful. Yet they're always pleading poverty?

I only know their headline figures, but their debt is rising despite selling players. Lemme see if I can find some detail ....
      • Overall debt rose from £44.9m to £46m, despite the sales of Mikel Arteta, Yakubu Ayegbeni, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, James Vaughan and Jermaine Beckford.
      • The club's wage bill increased from £58m in 2010-11 to a record £63.4m the following year. Wages accounted for an alarming 75% of turnover, which fell from £82m to £80.5m
      • Club record net loss of £9.1m for the same period

I am happy to report that all three of these important contributors to our fiscal well-being are in a much improved position this season
Maybe they'll see an improvement in their financials next year, but I just think they're desperate for investment and unfortunately, everybody knows it ... which doesn't help Bill Kenwright.

Cheers for that. Explains a fair bit!

I'm surprised the sale of Jermaine Beckford didn't raise enough to wipe out their debt entirely.

          Jermaine Beckford.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

They paid Jermaine Beckford £40,000 a week!

              Jermaine Beckford.

Always remember a colleague of mine saying that we should've been in for Beckford when he left Leeds.

Beckford wasn't that bad a punt at the time. Always risky to buy based on form in the championship but he was certainly in form at the time.

Sorry, I've read the snippet instead of the article.

He was on £25,000 p/w at Everton. Leicester rewarded his performances with an extra £15,000 p/w on his move there taking him up to £40,000 p/w.

Why are they not getting Compo from United for Moyes, does anyone know?

Moyes' contract comes to an end in July.

And yet the clowns still give him a heroes send off despite the fact that he screwed them over by not signing a new contract

I've covered this already, but in what possible way has he screwed them? Would you expect him to sign an extension at Christmas with the sole intention of breaking it five months later? Would that be more loyal? In what other walk of life would you expect that to happen?
                                Oh I don't know.
