Martinez said he turned us down but Werner said Rodgers was the only offer made to any manager..

                I don't really believe that.

Both Van Gaal and De Boer said they was offered the job IIRC. Maybe after Rodgers turned us down.

But didn't we want to interview around 40 candidates?

I'm not sure they turned the job down, more the opportunity of an interview.

Ajax boss Frank de Boer has turned down an approach from Liverpool FC to discuss the vacant manager’s job.

The 42-year-old Dutchman was on the list of around a dozen candidates owners Fenway Sports Group were keen to speak to in their search to find Kenny Dalglish’s successor.

And to get three posts on the bounce, did we approach Van Gaal for the Sporting Director role and he wanted to manage?

So ... all-in-all, I believe Martinez was *interviewed* and we offered one man the job ... Rodgers.

But let's get back to laughing at the bluenoses.

Don't have a clue how they offered the job or who they asked first.

FSG would never admit that they offered the job to someone that turned them down.

I believe that Van Gaal as DoF and Rodgers as manager was first option but Van Gaal said no. He wanted de Boer as manager. Rodgers also said no the first time FSG asked him. He probably didn't want Van Gaal as DoF.

de Boer said no after Van Gaal said no.

That is my opinion on it.

Basically everyone said no until they asked Rodgers again and he said yes.

For the record, I said no after Van Gaal and Rodgers (first time) but before De Boer, Martinez and Ngee.

Bender said no two weeks ago.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
