Did well under Rafa, particularly in UEFA cup.Be interesting to see how this pans out.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostBut also looked and played like a mediorce player. imo. Lacks football intelligence.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I like Martinez, he has a good footballing philosophy.
I also still respect the fact that after fergie devised his childish plan with fat Sam about Rafa being 'arrogant' & 'beyond the pale' - Martinez was the only fellow manager to publically defend rafa.
Even though he's the Everton manager - he doesnt seem bitter & he's a likeable guy. Hopefully this will rub off onto they're fans.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think Everton will do well today. They still have the defensive solidity of Moyes drilled into them. Martinez is gradually introducing an attacking style of play on the foundation of a team which is strong defensively. I think it will work very well this season.Originally posted by magicalbarnes View PostI like Martinez, he has a good footballing philosophy.

It will be interesting to see how the style of play develops over the next two seasons when the effect of Moyes tactics wears out and Martinez strategy starts dominating the team. I think they will gradually worsen out like Wigan.
