The FA have now set a precedent where historical breaches of the regulations of FFP will be punished in the current season or possibly the season ahead if the conclusion is made during the summer break. This would indicate that City will not be deducted points from their title winning season(s), as they should, but will infact be punished only for one term. This means that the rewards for multiple seasons of cheating will be worth it, and they'll probably do it again.Glass half empty club

The most amusing thing about this for me is the fact that Everton had been cheating for the past couple of years and were still really ****
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't think that is necessarily the case, obviously they have to apply any points deductions now, they can't say we are applying them (to Everton) for last season because that would have seen them relegated and playing in the Championship now, given the season has started that is impossible. They can't strip Everton of titles as they haven't won any.Originally posted by fabinho View PostThe FA have now set a precedent where historical breaches of the regulations of FFP will be punished in the current season or possibly the season ahead if the conclusion is made during the summer break. IMO the accusations against City are much more significant and have a greater impact on the game. Everton have really only affected 3 or 4 teams below them (in a very significant way admitedly). City's cheating has allowed them to win titles, distort the transfer market and gain funds (through CL qualification and trophy prize money which has made their subsequent achievements look legitimate when they are built on cheating, and that has affected the whole game for over a decadeThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Its difficult yes, but there has to be an altermnative to this. Maybe the answer is to conclude cases like this in between seasons only. That way points are deducted from the previous season so you could potentially still be relegated.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI don't think that is necessarily the case, obviously they have to apply any points deductions now, they can't say we are applying them (to Everton) for last season because that would have seen them relegated and playing in the Championship now, given the season has started that is impossible. Reading through the judgement there was areas of agreement hence it could move forward. Don't forget Everton admitted breaching it despite the PL saying are you sure win several occasions and also misleading them in other areas.Originally posted by Rich View PostI think this shows just how difficult City are making it - they must be throwing the legal kitchen sink at the PL.
City are playing the long game I assume by refusing to admit bugger all and this dragging things out.I make no apologies, this is me

Hopefully they kick them out of the Prem and the FA won’t have them either. That’ll put the ball back In UEFA’s court and they will have to decide on a Super League or something similar?Originally posted by Charly View PostEverton admitting it means they should get a more lenient punishment than a team that does absoluely everything it can to hide it then disrupt the disciplinary process, imho.We are here for a good time not a long time....

This is the season to get a points deduction.
