When do they think they are? Man Citeh or Chelsea?

    Comment

If they do get points deductions it's probably not a year to be around the bottom of the table, there will likely be appeals etc going on for the rest of the season which means that teams that are 4th/5th from bottom could end up in the relegation places if one or both appeals are successful.

The lack of any action around City and Chelsea and the push to go after the easier targets is pretty scandalous.

I think it’s because Everton are cooperating whereas City are fighting tooth and nail. The recent cases make me more optimistic that City will get a “real” penalty

We’ll see. The order of events isn’t so important, other than the ‘optics’ of it. If they fluff the city investigation then sure, they deserve both barrels, but what they do to others and when for different offences shouldn’t have a bearing.

Honestly Nev, I'll believe it when I see it.

                Premier League

Everton FC and Nottingham Forest FC have each confirmed to the Premier League that they are in breach of the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). This is as a result of sustaining losses above the permitted thresholds for the assessment period ending Season 2022/23.

In accordance with Premier League Rules, both cases have now been referred to the chair of the Judicial Panel, who will appoint separate Commissions to determine the appropriate sanction.

Commissions are independent of the Premier League and member clubs. The proceedings are heard in private with the Commissions’ final decisions made public on the Premier League’s website. The League will make no further comment until that time

Everton repeat offenders. Here's hoping to a 30 point deduction!

How is this different from what they have been punished for already, I am seeing alot on social media from blues claiming that this period overlaps with the one they have been punished for so it's effectively the same offence twice, I don't see how this can be the case but not seeing many details

It's a rolling 3 year period rather than set periods like the TV rights. They lose the first year of their previous offence and seemingly have not reduce spending enough.

Their claimed covid losses were nonsense anyway. Way more than they realistically could have been so not arsed if they get done. Just need to crack on with fiddling City and Chelsea who, if you account the wiped loan, lost over £1bn or whatever ridiculous figure it was

Thanks, I didn't realise it was a rolling 3 year period I thought it was a 'fixed' period and financial position was evaluated at the end. I guess it makes sense as massive losses for 2 years and the promise of making a huge profit in the 3rd year isn't a good way to manage a club. I thought there might have been a period where they were given a little bit of leeway if their finances were **** but they were bringing them back in order in the next year but didn't quite make it.

I guess the issue people are highlighting is that this is 2 years worth of offenses they are being punished for in the same season, which seems unfair until you remember that the first 10 points should have been applied last season, if it had been they would certainly have been relegated. This season with a 10 point deduction they will probably stay up, even if they were to get another points deduction this season there is still a chance that they would stay up (obviously depends how many more points). But at current points per game they would be on target for 49pts (minus any deductions currently 10 so 39pts less any future deductions), Luton currently 18th are on target for 30pts, Burnley 22 and Sheff Utd 17) add the Forest situation into the mix too (on target for 38pts before any deductions). In this scenario a 10pt deduction from Forest and a total 20pt deduction for Everton, could still see Everton stay up.

The first deduction was 10 points, and maybe the second will be a bit more harsh.

Let's say 15 to make it interesting

I have no idea if the second one will be more because it is a second offence or less because the periods overlap somewhat

Either way, Everton are ****ed as they need money for their stadium so no money for transfers or contract renewals etc so can only only go one way & it's definitely not upwards!
