Wonder what the ticket price hike will be

It’s a smart looking stadium for sure

It’s some racket to be in, stadium building, at the quoted costs someone somewhere is making an absolute killing.
      Modifying post.

At least they have plenty of room in their trophy museum/area.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Actually it is kind of funny in a way how clubs like Newcastle and Spurs get spoken off as being "big" clubs with histories of winning big competions.

Spurs have won the league twice, the most recent time being in the early 1950s and Newcastle have won the league four times, the most recent being in 1927.

At least Everton have nine league titles to their name and have won it more recently that the other two.

Same with clubs like Forest etc who have won a league and/or the European cup, yet it is always Spurs and Newcastle that get the "They should be back where they belong winning leagues" type comments.

I thought Spurs won the double in 1961??

Totally agree though. When I worked in Spain, a guy over there was asking me about Tottenham and he couldn't get his head around how they were perceived as being a big club

You're right, but still only two league titles in their history with that one being their most recent.

Fair points, lads...I think with Tottenham's status as big club is down to their resilience in the top league as cannot ever remember them being relegated whereas Newcastle may be the big fan base up there. I do agree with Everton & their history but **** all out of them in the last 30 plus years & numerous relegation escapes may have put paid to their big club status. Aston Villa will have more status than them as they have won quite a few league titles back in the early 20th century & then the league & European cup that will give them that status back in the early 80s.

I knew they were not highly decorated but didn't realise it was only 2 league titles.

That's as many as Preston and they haven't won one since the second ever football league season

It does. I wonder when it will start sinking. Also, with global warming and projected sea rises... not exactly future proof.
                    Really?

I think the sinking will be more of a feeling that the home fans have when they realise they've ridded themselves of the atmosphere that kept them in the PL

They where relegated sometime in the mid to late 70's, I remember watching them at Oldham Athletic when Ossie Ardiles was with them.

Didn't Ardiles, and Villw, come after the 78 World Cup? I thought they joined in the 80s and Spurs didn't go down in the 80s..I could be totally wrong mind

Just googled it. They were relegated at the end of the 1975/76 season.

Historically Everton are a big club, they don't really get that reputation because of their recent record having never really been big or competitive in the PL era, they had a couple of seasons under Moyes the first time, I think if they could have sustained that for a few years and made the CL (not just qualifiers) they would probably have been considered one of the big clubs, that is kind of what Spurs did to be considered that way, I also suspect the media London bias helped a bit too. Newcastle were talked about as potentially being a big club a couple of years ago when they looked on the fringes of CL qualification, again if they had done what Spurs did and had a few years in and around that top 4 for a sustained period they would have been considered that way. The fact that the have a large fan base and are in an area where there aren't too many other teams adds to their potential
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You're correct they did come after the 78 WC I definitely remember Ardiles playing at Boundary Park though, must have played them in the cup at some point.
