They were saying in Jimmy Hill's kitchen this morning that Roeder was a good coach, but not right to be Barcode manager.

I could be Barcode manager: I'll play nine up front, score loads of goals and lose every week, pay everyone £100,000 a week, never win anything, and the fans will all love me for it! Genius!

        Where did they finish?

He is a well respected coach and to be fair he will basically turn up and collect his badge next time the course is run.
I think it was a very sensible decision to bring in a good coach to try and steady the ship and build a solid unit. The trouble is that it appears the transfer policy seems to be completely insane - and not driven by the manager.
What do you base this on? Bollocks to Roeder, he started the caretaker job saying he didn't WANT the role full time, then miraculously changed his mind. If he doesn't agree with the transfers then he should protest, it's his job/reputation on the line.
I think you're making far too many assumptions, the signings were his and his responsibility.

I can't imagine that Roeder would have chosen Duff over the ability to add another central midfielder. I can see why they went for Martins but I think that at the price they paid they probably needed to get two players for that.
How about "because Roeder is a ****ing idiot and a **** manager"? Does that explain why he chose Duff over a central midfielder?

To be honest mate, Newcastle need defenders, not midfielders.
