    Martin Samuel

Thinks Stoke are serious contenders for 4th place....

    #2
well silly as it seems after the chavs and the 2 manc clubs all the rest of the teams are now average .....
wouldn't go as far as saying they are serious contenders and not saying they will get 4th but the way arsenal and ourselves and spurs are you never know.i think yesterday was the game were we could have shown everyone we really are in the race if we had won but again we blew it.

The way we are? What, you mean significantly better than Stoke?

There's not a cat in hell's chance of Stoke finishing 4th.

There's more chance of you breaking a story before anyone else has posted it

Are you seriously suggesting that, because we lost yesterday, we are no longer in the race to finish 4th?

Oh, and in football, the better team always wins, does it?

Does losing yesterday mean we're out of the race for 4th, and that stoke are in the race?

You're being a narky ****er today for some bizarre reason.

no but if you read my post which you clearly didn't i said we had to win yesterday to show everyone we were going to mount a challenge this year, but we have dropped points at home and now lost away.

                  A challenge for 4th?

So you're saying that, by losing yesterday, we failed to show that we're mounting a challenge for 4th and now everyone thinks we arent going to challenge for 4th?

If that's what you're saying, i think you're off the mark. I doubt there's anyone who thought we would challenge for 4th before yesterday's game, who has now changed their mind based on what happened at Stoke.

Can you imagine Barcelona coming to the Britannia Stadium in the Champions League?

                              No? Me neither.

So what the **** is Martin Samuel on about, other than giving an example of 'hyperbole' that even WarrenB would have to agree with.

I think Stoke should be looking (and be happy with) 7th and pushing 6th. But let's not forget they have the Europa League to contend with this season too.
