There's a world of difference between finding the analogy acceptable or humorous than the real life event anything but horrific.
I honestly don't see much difference from the use of the term "buggered" or "****ed" to describe something that's broken.
I did find the Cascarino/holocaust thing highly distasteful though, but that's cos it referred to a specific event/chain of events (even if the term is a more general one, that's what most people think of when it's used).
