Keys is no fan of aspects of the British media. "They say we have a free press in the UK. I'm not sure that we do. We have a press owned by too few, that can manipulate public opinion any which way they like."

He even admitted himself that he and Gray manipulated stats to put Rafa in bad light, so he should know, he is a master when it comes down to manipulate the publish opinion. He did it for years.

I don't agree. How come the video of their sexist banter made its way into the public domain?

A new head of Sky Sports took over only a short time earlier. That's not coincidence IMO.

Getting rid of the sexist dinosaurs was a public service but Sky wanted rid of them for other reasons. It possibly saved the company quite a bit of money and certainly it helped them to justify dropping them - I don't remember much of an outcry when the two fixtures of English football got blasted into oblivion (or Talksport as it's now known).

Plus there was a lot of personal animosity there - it's almost inevitable in such an ego-driven environment. With two such loathsome characters being around for so long it's easy to believe they'd have made plenty of enemies with a personal motive for undermining them.

I'm delighted it happened of course. I just don't think the scandal blew up out of nowhere.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

        This is wonderfully ironic:

Describing the public reaction at the time as a "furore", Keys is no fan of aspects of the British media. "They say we have a free press in the UK. I'm not sure that we do. We have a press owned by too few, that can manipulate public opinion any which way they like."

Fortunately for Keys, he is in Qatar now, where there is not quite the same media culture. "I am pleased not to be part of that, it's a huge thing for me, to live in a country now where that sort of hypocrisy doesn't exist. It just doesn't exist."
Given that his employer was one of those 'few' people who owned the British press, and that he's probably one of the biggest hypocrites going.
        Oh I don't know.

I hope they don't, they will get their bollocks chopped off out there if they get caught.

Gray was suing News International for hacking his phone so he basically bit the hand that fed him. Keys might have been collateral damage unless there was a separate reason for wanting to get rid of him.

He must have been really thick, or wanted to go anyway, or thought he was too important to get rid of. Could be any really!
