It's funny i know he looks like Ricky Martin so people think he's a wimp but he works his bollox off and gets stuck in! Some people only realised this when he got plaudits for his hard working performances in the Euros along side Meireles & Moutinho.

That comment along Matty shows me that you know absolutely nothing about Veloso as a player. I know you don't like admitting you're wrong but you've sold yourself with that comment dude, way off

His time at Genoa is wasnt a good one as they struggled but he is a super player IMO

I think people are obsessed with the physicality of midfield defense. That said when Meireles plyed for us he did seem to pull out of some eminently winnable tackles. Perhaps this is an active choice and is better in some systems than others (i.e. when he is higher up the pitch or in a midfield 3). He's certainly a better all round player than most midfielders in the PL.

I'm not surprised you don't rate him and usually each to their own, but i'm pretty sure from you last comment about Veloso, which literally is one of his best attributes & pretty well known.... that you know nothing about him but have made a snap judgement! Probably similar to the judgement you made about Adam after watching him in a friendly for 60-70 mins in a friendly game, which is a bit ridiciulous, many people were saying as much in the thread at the time

And Adam can't defend to save his life, think that is common knowledge at this stage, deeper he plays, the worse he is don't dispute that for one second. My point was and still is play him further up the pitch or with an out and out DM behind and the results will be much better, utilise his best assets and negate his worst.

And in all fairness totally different player to Meireles. He flatters to deceive in his work is so untrue, himself and Moutinho covered more ground than anyone else in a ridiculously hard working Portugal team EURO 2012. If you don't rate him that's perfectly fine i'm not his agent or a family member of his so couldn't care less, but the fact that you made such a flippant remark originally about his work rate shows that:

a) You haven't seen him play that much and you're exaggerating a bit.

Or

b) You clearly haven't been looking at his games properly.


Either way you're way off about his work rate, whether you like him or not is different story.

And sure i've never been one to go with popular opinion matt and i respect people who have their own views and opinions on things, i like to think i call a spade a spade and i do agree that alot of the players mentioned, aren't what LFC need or are the standard that we'd want.

But without sounding rude or disrespectful here matt, you seem to have an abrupt negative judgement about nearly every single player LFC that we have been linked with in the past few years, and you become a bit of a parody of yourself when you dismiss all these players and then campaign for someone like say... Mertesacker (who has to be one of the biggest failures in premier league history).

LFC have feck all money and are struggling to find top players who want to be here. It's a matter of finding talent in lowly places/rough diamonds/off the radar talent etc & it seems at non exorbitant prices. Difficult task for Rogers.
